Curious on this topic as well, but know nothing of their plans. I collect both Frontline and JJD FIW pieces. I like the look of many of the Frontline FIW pieces, particularly the french royals and marines. Same height as the JJD sets, just leaner. I am fine with that look and happy with the paint and detail on those pieces. Very well done. In a display cabinet, the french royals simply pop out.
Some FL sets had to have sold well. After the initial release sold, it seemed for a good 9 months or more the newer french royal and marines sets in the firing positions were simply unavailable. Now, I think they are again available. But it took Frontline months and months to restock the dealers. Did they miss the marketing window for those sets? Unsure. But I was frustrated trying to complete a platoon in firing positions and the frustration was shared by the dealers who could not get restocked. Seems this could have been done better by Frontline.
On the upside, I liked how Frontline did the initial release of the french marines and royals - officers, flags, drummers, sergeants, and rank & file.
When it gets down to the actual collecting, I happily mix elements from Frontline with JJD and other manufacturers, especially were Frontline has been creative in their releases. The british rocket artillery set from Frontline was a definite for the War of 1812 shelf in the curio. I think Frontline is the only company offering a 19th century howitzer in any set (Russian set?).
So if a manufacturer puts out a well sculptured and painted FIW set and it is at the right height ("modern 54" - heard this at a show), I'm likely to collect, especially if the piece is different.
