My wishhhhh list. German flamethrower, german mine laying team/ mine detecting/ radio men..need to call in reinforcements!!

On the flame thrower theme, can any of you experts out there tell me if these were a prominent weapon at Stalingrad?.I wouldn't think Andy would produce one for Normandy or Bulge(i could be wrong of course)so i was wondering if Berlin or Stalingrad was a more likely scenario?.

FT's were heavily used by the Germans to crack open strongpoints in 40 (West), 41 & 42 including Stalingrad, Sevastopol, etc. The Russians replied in kind with FT T-34's & KV-1's, which gave the Germans a very very very bad time in Stalingrad.

The KV-1 FT especially.

A nice flamethrower figure in winter camo ... $28.00
Having it in you collection ... Priceless

Yeah winter camo would be cool.Maybe with a couple of riflemen as protection. If you were a flame thrower chappie you didn't want to be captured!.

Going back to my earlier point,of course they were used on D Day by US troops on German Bunkers.See 'Private Ryan'.

The Germans did not use the flamethrower too much on the Western Front except in the early invasion of France and Holland. The flamethrower was used throughout the war in Russia and at Stalingrad during the initial siege. Not too much in Berlin or later in Stalingrad becuase of fuel shortages. The German Flamethrower, Flammenwerfer 35, used about a liter of gasoline per second. So at times where there was not enough fuel for vehicles, the flamethrower was consider a luxury.

The Germans mostly used their flamethrowers as a siege weapon, to clear out buildings and fortifications. They were used extensively in Poland during both the Warsaw Ghetto uprisings and later the Warsaw City revolt. BTW, two good movies that show German Flamethrower troops are the "Pianist" and "Uprising".

WWI is a different story and I would except to see a German Flamethrower in a future release.

Does the Pianist have many action scenes then?.

Not that many. A few fight scenes between partisans and German troops. The movie is mostly about life in the Jewish Ghetto and how the Germans devastated Warsaw in 1944.

I'm not quite following you. Are you perhaps talking about the Russians?
