I'm taking the family to Disneyworld and then we are staying with my wife's godmother near Fort Myers. So I wondering if you guys can tell me about any points of interest in the area, toy soldier shops, museums, etc. For instance, is the Troops of Time in Jacksonville close by? Thanks in advance.

You are really going to be spread out. Orlando (Disney) is about 2 1/2 hours drive from Jacksonville, one way, non rush hour. Jacksonville is north Florida, Orlando in the middle. Ft. Myers is in south Florida, quite a drive from Orlando in its self, but I have not made that drive and do not know the time involved. Driving from Ft. Myers to Jacksonville is going to involve several hours, one way. Good luck. -- lancer

You might want to contact the Toy Soldier Factory in Apollo Beach, which is on the land side of the bay from St. Petersburg. I stumbled across him, because he sells King-White/Reeves figures, but I think he has others in his catalog, too. Here is his website:

I would contact him and see if he maintains a store, because St. Pete is not too far for those staying in Orlando. It's roughly west-southwest of Orlando, on the Gulf Coast, maybe 70 miles. If he has a shop, it could be worth a drive.

Hope that helps, prost!

I stopped in at the Toy Soldier Store in Jacksonville for the first time ever earlier today, during my drive back from North Carolina's Outer Banks to the Fort Lauderdale area. The Toy Soldier Store is just minutes off of I-95 - less than a mile. My wife and I were shown around the store by a very pleasant and knowledgeable young fellow by the name of Baker. He just couldn't have been nicer. I purchased a mounted crusader #MK054. They have a very nice collection from many different manufacturers. Baker was more than happy and very able to answer any questions I had and made us feel very welcome to be in their store. It was a very pleasant experience. I travel the route on I-95, past their store many times every summer, on my way back and forth to exhibit in art shows, so I look forward to stopping in again to purchase more pieces from them this summer. I collect only the medieval figures at this time, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of their other figures from many various manufacturers up close and in person. If you are in the area, I would definately recommend that you stop in for a visit. I'm sure there is no obligation to purchase anything during your visit, but you will certainly want to. In any case, enjoy your Florida vacation!

Tim Tyler is a longtime friend and one of the nicest guy in the business ! Wonderful person - no drama - great dealer !

I highly recommend him and his shop - which is a total treat to visit. He has a outstanding selection and is someone who cares for his clients.

Do try to stop in and see him - you won't regret it !

I should clarify that the actual name of the business is "Troops of Time", as Ron indicated. There are signs out in the front yard that read TOY SOLDIER STORE. Tim Tyler was not there when we visited.

Im drivin through Jacksonville on my way home from Savannah in 9 days. I guess Ill have to see if I can stop in. If I drop your name Ron do I get a discount?
