Anyone see this yet? First Legion has a new addition to their World of Tanks line: a German Panzer VIII Maus


As it’s a WoT game inspired vehicle, it’s definitely a “what if” model, but looks pretty neat. The price at $565 is pretty steep though… The model is supposedly shipping late February. This appears to be the first Maus tank model in 1/30 scale - something I’ve personally wanted to see for a long time!

I’ve included some photos taken from FL’s website below. The last digital rendering shows the size of the Maus next to a T-34/85!

Let’s hope so, Mike! FL’s description says it’s the biggest 1/30 tank they’ve ever made and with all the add-ons and limited production run, it’s not surprising it costs as much as it does…

The Tank Workshop in China which sells on goofish.com made a 1/30 Maus years go. I should know, ive got 3 of them!

Prefer the Ones that Sfarrelly put on TFrog and had at the London Show, the FL ones look too over the top and the netting does not look natural.

These are made for the "World of Tanks" game and series, so it is not necessarily going for a natural or historically accurate look. At least, that would be my assumption.

Based on what I’ve read about WoT, realism is not necessarily key.

As a WoT vehicle, this Maus is definitely a what if scheme… Well, technically any Maus model paint job that differs from what was seen on the two prototypes is technically a “what if” scheme because the Maus never saw service.

FL’s description on their site says the Wustenschiff paint scheme is purely aesthetic and was inspired by desert themes. (In the pics, it actually reminds me of the late war faded dunkelgelb color seen on German armor). It’s a lot like FL’s WoT IS-7 model’s “Granite” paint scheme that was nothing like the typical Soviet armor paint schemes from the 1950s era.

The model is shipping late February, not supposedly shipping late February. It's already finished and leaves for our US Warehouse tomorrow by air.

Yes, we hated to have to charge $565 for the model, but really that price is lower than it should be given its size and the fact that just the packaging (box, foam, sleeve etc) cost us nearly $20/unit and we pay 10% licensing fees and those wonderful tarrifs. It's a massive, beautifully manufactured, high end collectible.
