That is good! The Germans hated doing ground attacks in the 262. I can't say that I blame them. The 262 could have been the best fighter of the war, but thank the corporal decreed all late production aircraft were to be used for ground attack. They just came out with some new footage showing the 262 attacking bomber formations and it is unbelievable. On one pass a 262 took out two B17's like they were paper. The 4 20 mm obliterated them so fast it was amazing. Even in dog fights the 262 was one he'll of a plane. Most of the 262's that got shot down were on take off or landing. Other countries used the 262 after the war for a good ten years. I would love to fly in 262.

The Me 262 was used a lot in the ground attack role against the RAF using anti personal mines. My point was on paper it is the best, problem with the Me 262 was it 20mm cannons were slow firing witch did not help when your flying at over 500+ miles a hour

One thing I notice is that we are talking about ground attack. Realistically even though they were not fighter bombers the Stuka, Douglas sbd, and Stormivich which were better at hitting ground targets. The corsair was the only one of the bunch that could equal a dive bomber in a dive. Not that it was planned, but Stuka could **** near do 90 degrees in a dive. As for busting tanks again the Stuka would have the record. They just were not fighters.

I know they tried many things with the 262, but even Hartman in his book did not understand why they used it as a fighter bomber. The 262 had some scary characteristics at low level. Orders are orders as they say.
