Forum Meltdown (1 Viewer)

Hi Fred and All,
From what Jelsoft (company behind our forum software) can figure out by the several reports they got from forums hosted by our host company Netfirms, the host compnay must have made some sort of change to MySQL causing an unexpected incompatibility with the software. What we have at the moment is only a work-around patch while Netfirms figures out what it did.
We also found out that the upgrade we have been waiting for for the forum software is now available so hopefully the next time you can't access the forum it's because we are upgrading. We try to do that on off-peak hours though, not prime time like today. There are some exciting improvements in the offing. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the update, Shannon. I've often been accused of "unexpected incompatibility" myself as you've probably noticed by some of my posts!

Shannon, I'm just glad to have the site up and running. I was starting to suffer from withdrawl!

So it wasn't all part of that Connecticut electoral brawl? That's good and bad news, because it means it could happen again. Probably summer intern from College unplugging a server to charge his cellphone.

Don't you just love all the lovely things that happen during an upgrade???

We could swap some horror stories, I'm sure.

If everyone was honest, I wonder how many would admit to being in the fetal position immediately after not being able to access the forum today. Uncontrolled shaking and various bodily functions happening at the same time. Withdrawal can be very uncomfortable.

I just called and spoke to Mandi and all was well from then on.:)
