Hay guys, I just got an email from George. The FOV GMC deuce and a half and the elefant are on ...... Oh, hi George.:p:)

Well did y'all get them yet? How are they? How about a couple of pics?

Yup, I got the Elefant. Overall, I think it's a good piece, but it's lacking any drivers and doesn't come with a base. I don't care about the base, but I do miss having someone poking out of the top. I'd have to say I'd buy it again, but it isn't the strongest piece in my collection. Given how legendarily heavy these were, it seems a bit of a letdown when compared to a King Tiger (Of course I realize the King Tiger was a monster in it's own right). The metal content seems a bit lacking as well. One funny note, when looking at the package I thought the chassis was metal, with a plastic cabin, but it's actually the opposite! Guess that means the paint job is decent enough to fool the eye.

Interesting pet shop concept. The GMC comes with a puppy and the elefant gets a kitten. I wonder what the other new FOV releases will have as pets. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my.:)

Do they really come with pets?

Vick:confused:

Anyone else dissapointed in the 2 of these? No working suspension, dumb gear, pets?!?!?!, and bobs barricades??? the Deuce is a real letdown! You can't remove the canvas cover on it (which really sucks!!!) & the paint job on the enthusiest version is barely better than the action series from Target. I Found an action series Elefant at Target on clearance and re-painted it in the mottled "Italian" Camo scheme. It looks 100X better than the Enthusiest version of the Elefant (which I also have. I'd give the Elefant a B- & the Deuce a C-/D+. A real let down!!!

I sold about 48 of the deuce and 30 or so of the elefant, so I guess there were afew folks who liked them. They only have two vehicles on deck for 2009, a short barrel grey Stug III and a Russian KV I, both beauties IMO, we'll see how sales go on them.....................

I have no complaint with either, other than I paid $60 for the enthusiast and also bought the Target version for half the price and I really could not tell the difference.

Does Target have the 2 1/2 truck ?

I never seen them at any of my Targets. I did get 3 trucks and two elefant enthusiasts versions. I thought they where nice maybe a little disappointing with the truck but hey its the only company doing a 2 1/2 truck in 1/32 so you cant put them down to much.

I've only seen the Deuce at Target once & I'm kicking myself for not grabbing it! My main beef with the Deuce is that the canvas cover over the bed isn't removable. I think it really reduces its use for Dioramas. Anything you put in the bed can't be seen except from the very rear. I had a Dio project centered around it, but had to scrap it for that very reason. The Other thing I noticed was that the Elefants have no markings at all on them. Any idea why not? I had to order some Archers dry transfers to give my Elefant so identity (other than a massive cat condo for the cat that came with the enthusiest version, chuckle).

The rear bed is do-able if you have some strip plastic and a few hours. Later I'll try and take a photo of my open-back GMC.

I wish I had found one or two of the "cheap" trucks at our Targets but they never showed up around here. I like the idea of one or two more for conversion use.

FOV seems to be getting kind of wierd with how they market their stuff...... Alex

You mean yours didn't come with an open bed like this?

Just kidding - I wanted to show that the rear bed CAN be opened with a bit of work. This is a "work in progress" so a lot of details and painting of stowage aren't done yet. This will be a prime mover for my FoV 105mm howitzer - note the scratchbuilt 105mm ammo cases in proper WW2 style (the crate markings came from the excellent Archer dry transfers set in 1/35th). I also converted this one from hard cab to the tactical cab . The object is that the FoV is a great starting point, especially since its the ONLY true 1/32nd CCKW ever made.

No!!! Mine didn't come like that. I want a refund, chuckle. That looks really **** good!!!! How did you go about doing it if you don't mind me asking? That's pretty much what I had in mind with the bed. Bless the fine folks at Archers. The Tranferrs are great & really saved my FOV Elefant from having a severe identity crisis, laugh. I think if the good folks at FOV & 21st Century took notes off of what the customers on here were doing they might speed up coming out with new stuff. Thanks for the posting.
