I bought this today at £36.99. This is the most expensive pay point FOV have had. But it is also the best piece they have produced to date.

This is without doubt an incredible piece and anyone with an interest in WW2 in 1/32 ish scale should buy one.
That probably sounds a bit silly but when you consider the barrel recoils and that the wheel actually winches the barrel up and down and that you can take the wheels off and put it in a fixed firing position, suddenly you wonder why it is so cheap. I also have the K&C version worth maybe £200 and it makes it seem a bit useless with it's droopy barrel and only one position.

Seriously I recommend this to any WW2 enthusiasts.

I have to agree, I am a dealer of the FOV line for a few years. It is the BEST piece I've seen from them. Well detailed , I put up against my KNC 88, while the KNC much larger , the FOV 88 is much more detailed. A winner!

Here is a pic.

I'm a big fan of FOV models and will get the 88 for sure. Does anyone want to
buy my old 21st Century version :)

Looking forward to ordering the 88 and 105 gun sets. Always need some arty. Can a 1/32 scale 88 take out a K&C sherman? Leadmen:D

The 88 will put a hole the size of a Mississippi Watermelon in the Sherman

I am planning to use both (21st and FOV) of them in a diorama...Alex

Hi Guys,

I am only a little familure with the FOV line. I have seen some but not really looked too closely so with the picture I would say they look really good but I am curious about the materal they are built from. With the moving parts etc it sounds like they are diecast or at least part metal and part polystone or plastic. Please enlighten me. Also can someone shead some light on what else they make because I am looking for an M1 Abrams of Desert Storm or Pre Desert Storm period since those are the tanks I was on and would like to put one in my office/manly man room.

They are Diecast and Plastic. You will be amazed if you see the M1, Bradley Hummer etc. It can be argued they make the best vehicles in the industry and at an unbelievable price. Check them out on www.diecastdirect.com they have the best prices....Alex

Dave, here's a link to the FOV website which includes pics of their WWII based figures and models as well as modern armor that includes Gulf War stuff you mentioned: http://www.forcesofvalor.com/

The vehicle chassis and tank hulls are made from diecast metal with plastic parts added here and there such as hatches and machine guns etc. The tracks and track wheels of the tanks are made from an ABS type of plastic and rather robust unlike plastic kits. Across the range the vehicles are well made and have good detail but some are better than others as with most companies. FOV also do a series of premade dioramas that you can add pieces to for extra realism.

The figures that come with the vehicles and as separate packs are plastic and prepainted. Some are rather good such as the German tank crews but most are only average with obvious arm to torso joins, and a minority such as the guy with the Grant tank are total crap (he looks like his tank ran over his head). FOV did a series of indiviual diecast GI figures which weren't well detailed and I believe have been discontinued.

They make 1/48, 1/32 and 1/72 pieces, so make sure you check the scale before buying :)

Although i'm not really into modern vehicles the latest FOV modern releases look great. I especially like the US MLRS and the US amphibious vehicle.
I'm quite tempted to get these as they seem good value to me.

I picked up my FOV Flak 88 yesterday from TSSD. It truly is comparable to the detailing offered by Minichamps version of the same model. Lots of moveable pieces and the figures are very nice considering they’re painted plastic soldiers; especially the poses are right on.

Some 1/32 vehicles, tanks and artillery made by some manufactures con be mixed in the same dioramas with 1/30 figures if you’re not a purest. This is NOT compatible with 1/30!!!

It’s a fantastic piece BUT it’s actually a little smaller than 21st Century’s FLAK 88 gun. Frankly, I’d say this is 1/35 and can be mixed with 1/32 ONLY.

I’m a little bit disappointed in the scale of this masterfully designed and manufactured die-cast model.

The US 105 Howitzer/ 3 man crew is due to arrive this week. I am happy to see this model hitting the market. If it is like 88 , I expect it to be a solid piece. Also, the German SD Kfz 7/1 Halftrack ( mounted flak ) is due to arrive with the US 105. I post my comments when I see them in person Friday...

The 8.8 cm Flak came in 5 models:

8.8 cm Flak 18
8.8 cm Flak 36
8.8 cm Flak 37
8.8 cm Flak 41
8.8 cm Flak 43

I don't have one (yet), and the FOV site doesn't say, but it looks like it's the Flak 37.

I've heard how well painted and detailed the actual 88 is, but how well detailed and painted are the figures?

I think they are good for FOV. I think that the figures included with the vehicles/guns are much better than the figure sets sold seperately.
