Brent,

That looks very neat. Great job on the weathering.

Is the cast effect hull as standard?

Simon

Very nice job on the weathering. It looks suitably dusty without going overboard.

That "Lee" is one of FoV's better US tanks. I wish I could get several sets of their tracks from the Lee to use on other projects of mine.

jomartvr,

I did the following to weather the vinyl tracks.

1. Sprayed with "Future"
2. Did a dilluted dry brushing with Poly Scale Grimey Black
3. Used "Earth Dirt" pigment powdered

:)

Great Job Builtrite. I dont know what it is about those lopsided looking Lee Tanks but I love 'em. It must be that hull mtd. gun. I really like those little Stuarts too. Maybe it's the names...no aint that 'cause I like the Grant tank too.

I know that lots of guys in this hobby are not big fans of FOV, but I also purchased this tank for $20.00, and detailed it and it looks spectacular, considering the minimal investment. I just finished weathering the M5 stuart, and made a 761st tank battalion diorama, using the retired Figarti African American 4 soldier set, and it looks great.

Alex,
I sprayed the future straight. I use a cheap air brush I bought at Walmart 2 years ago, any excess or puddling on the tank you have can be taken care of with a paper towel...Just use the corner of the towel and barely touch the futre, the towel will absorb it. If you make a mistake or our not happy with the coat. Use window cleaner with amonia...it will break down the future, and you can respray...you will also want to use the window cleaner on your air brush if that is what you have....run it through the line a few times...

Steel Wheels,
Take some pics and let us see your work..

Hello,
Could someone tell me what "future" is and where I can purchase it?
THanks
Benjamin

You can buy it at Walmart, Target almost anywhere.

Walmart is your best bet. They carry it year round and always have it in stock.

I think that FOV have a good product in general.
Some of their AFV's are a bit mediocre but with a little extra work, the majority of them can be transformed - as demonstrated with the Lee tank here.
Cheers

Can you give us a picture of that? Sounds great.

I'd like to add that almost any grocery store here in the states will probably carry Future as well, in the cleaning products aisle. I bought my bottle at the Acme (Ac-a-me, for my neighbors in Philly) years ago.

Prost!

What does the Future do?

"Ooh! Ooh! Mr. Kotter, pick me, pick me!"

Brent, did you use it to get a more consistent surface for the later weathering treatment? We use it for modelling for a similar purpose. Before putting decals on a model, we use Future because it's self-leveling and gives a good surface for a decal to settle onto. Then we hit the area with a flat lacquer.

Prosit!
Brad

I have a bottle of future that has been in my cabinet a few years and never was open. It looks a little yellow but I was wondering if it would be OK to use? I bought it for decals but never used it or tried it with an airbrush. John:confused:
