Some of my favorite First Legion Cavalry figures are made to represent Francis I King of France and his Gendarmes at the time of his Invasion of of Italy.
More specifically his second campaign which culminated with the Battle of Pavia in 1525, and the destruction of his Cavalry, a loss of 10,000 troops and his own capture by the Imperial Forces.
His life was actually saved by von Frundsberg who had to personally intervene and rein in his Landsknecht who were in the process of slaughtering the French Heavy Cavalry and had pulled King Francis from his horse.
Anyway long story short here are some of my favorite First Legion cavalry. The pictures don't do them justice the details showing the etching in their Armor and detail on the fabric of their bases (skirts) which was in Fashion in France during the period is just awesome, First Legion did a fantastic job on these. I really hope First legion will add to this line, would love to have much much more including Imperial cavalry.
