There's plenty of pictures of German soldiers & their foreign girlfriends I've seen, France & Ukraine in particular. My question is from a diorama perspective...how strict was the policy against this? Obviously it couldn't have been too bad if the dudes were so willing to take pictures, but could this piece be put in the same diorama with an officer present?

I think I'll use this piece in my Normandy Village scenario with the SS Krupp truck and Hitler Paris car. :D:D

I imagine that the Germans serving under that regieme in that time frame were judged more on the "stock" they were mingling with. I think the Germans had a bit more practical in their approach to soldiers away from home as long as they weren't dating "inferior" types ("Hans, you can abuse them, but you can't date them"). All those French/Belgian/Dutch ladies getting their heads shaved in public had been known to "collaborate" with the German forces, so the practice must not have been uncommon.

check out the hands on that lady, meat cleavers if you ask me,wont be Ukrainian looks too healthy, the germans starved the population there, with them hands looks as if she works in a Braukeller.

I like to think she's just leading him on, ready to turn him over to the Resistance.

Hi There,

A German Aviator I knew told me he had a French Girl Friend and he was a Officer so I imagine that even if it may have been offically frowned upon it was "allowed".

I recently finished Anthony Beevor's new book 'D-Day' and he goes into some pretty good detail about the big backlash/retribution that French women faced by the local population (after liberation) if they had been known to have 'fraternized' with the Germans during the occupation. Not pretty...
