As usual, with spare putty I started on yet another project.
Frida's head was modified from a Preiser male and Diego's from a Historex spare.
Trying to capture their unique characteristics.
Unfortunately the pic was taken late at night in my excitement.

Here's a clearer pic. I haven't done much except to build up a torso for Diego.

Starting to move on this piece. Frida has had arms and a skirt added from Preiser parts. This famous couple had a tempestuous relationship enlivened by their paintings.

I made up this pose of Frida striking a dancing pose in tribute to one of her paintings. Diego is just a big guy and I intend to pose him behind her.

Their disparity in size allows me the liberty of playing around with size differences to create a visual dichotomy between them physically ( that sounded pseudo-intellectual...:)).

Diego was further refined and built up. I use the legs cut down from a 1/20 scale Tamiya figure set.

Sculpted more of Diego's trousers, giving him the portly look. Sculpted a trademark shawl wrap for Frida.

Changed the pose of Diego to interact more with Frida. Added wire and Scalelink arms. I cut down the height of Frida and added Historex shoes. The lower fringe of Frida's dress was sculpted.

I sculpted a coat for Diego and posed the couple together for fitting before final sculpting.

After my frenzy of spring cleaning, I pored over my gray collection and pondered the possibilities of doing more pieces in between the big dioramas. Since Frida is mostly done, I only have to finish Diego to start painting.

I reworked Diego pose drastically to place his hands around Frida's waist. Also turned up his right leg to show a dance step.
