We are very pleased to officially launch our Glory of Rome figure range with the commencement of the pre-order of ROM001-ROM008 Imperial Roman Legionnaires. The first batch of 8 figures is now available for pre-order from our website and will be shipping to customers in late June 2011. Like all of our figures, these are superbly sculpted and painted and will make a fantastic addition to any serious Roman toy soldier collection. We will expand this range pretty regularly with about 8-10 new figures every 45 days or so until we've built up a good grouping of Legionnaires, their command, and their Ancient German adversaries. Only time will tell where we'll take the range after that, but I can say that work continues and the range will be produced at roughly the same pace as our Crusades figure range. We're pretty excited about the figures and we hope you are as well!

Matt, my congratulations to you and the FL team for your exciting foray into Rome … outstanding stuff!

Very nice series, congratulations FL, the shields looks wonderful, well done

Looks great boss- thanks for putting the dent details on the shields too. Any word on the order status of the Optio and Aquilifer?

Also- since I am not intimately familiar with FL, can anyone elaborate on the statement "...will be produced at roughly the same rate as the Crusaders?"

Thanks

Chris,

I am no FL expert and am more than well prepared to be corrected; however their “flagship” range is definitely their NAPs. The crusader range appears to be pretty popular and has been well received. There are currently 42 individual figures in the crusade range, which kicked off in August 2010. So already it pretty well developed and has been only going for 10 months. There are some mounted figures on their way. So this should give you some indication of potential releases, cheers … Alby

Cheers mate- appreciate the input.

They look great and I appreciate FL's quality but at $23 more than CS and Conte I will wait to check them out.

Matt, these new Romans look great, as expected. I really like the small details, like the battle-damage on the shields and the mix of helmet styles. And the list price is very reasonable!

Hi Matt,

Is the pattern of the shields hand painted or is it done with some kind of decal ?

Thanks !

Alex

Really great looking releases! I can't start another series right now:( (already way deep into conte Romans) but if I was looking to start a new ancient line I'd be checking these guys out! Any mounted personality figures going to be released... that I could talk myself into:). Another home run range!^&cool

Saber- you gotta get the Optio- couldn't tell you if I ever saw one of those before at thsi scale.

I pulled out my 2001 K&C Romans and they look like they will go well with CS and Conte.

I just might do that brother! That was a call sign of mine as an XO back in the day! I'm sure you get the connection:wink2:, god knows no one in my unit did{sm4}. I really am hoping for some mounted Legates etc...the best of both worlds Romans.....and CAVALRY!

That's awesome!! I went to the Gettysburg TS show a couple weeks ago and saw all the mounted Naps and let my mind wander thinking of what the mounted FL cavalry will look like!! Good times ahead!!

Ok, I certainly agree with you on that point- I do believe I saw you had FL naps- any opinion how those will scale up?? My only concern is the scale issue when compared to KC, Conte and now CS. I have seen their NAPs and AWI figures and believe they are slightly smaller than the KC ones but some FL collectors have stated that the Crusaders are more in line with KC et al.

Thanks

Crusaders match up fairly well. FL Napoleonics do not match up to K&C except the French Artillery set which seemed larger in scale then their infantry. Generally the FL figures are less robust or some would say "finer" in detail. We will all know soon enough when we compare physically. I personally appreciate when different makers can be combined.

Congratulations to First Legion on the release of another great line: Roman Soldiers....Not an era of history that I personally collect; but most guys have been waiting on this....These figures should make for an interesting phalanx battle scene...those shields look good{bravo}}
