had an Ebay sale to California...from my house in Texas...Feb 27th...

was scanned properly by my mail carrier and in transit...so I have access to the most current tracking info...it got 50 miles to Houston...and has not moved since...my Ebay customer has been very cool about this...telling me not to sweat it yet...and I'm grateful for his patient attitude...but it's been 10 days stuck in Houston...no activity other than repeating messages of "it's in transit"...

I spent an hour on the phone yesterday trying to get a live representative from USPS...but their electronic tree just shuffles you around asking me to press a number on my phone if I want to buy postage...temporarily stop delivery...need a change of address...or 50 other services...anything but a live person...

the value was $112...and over 1 pound...so I had to send it USPS Priority...and have the minimum $50 insurance that Ebay offers when you print postage with them...but not enough to cover the full price...

when I spoke to the postmaster this morning at my local office about the status of my parcel...the first thing he asked me was..."Did you insure it?"

it's like their "get out of jail free card"...

having to pay extra to ensure that someone does their job properly just irks me to no end...I have never grasped the concept of me having to pay extra to cover myself when I hire you for a job...this is a business that is so inept...that besides paying for the service of delivery...they offer insurance to cover their mistake in case it's not delivered or damaged...

can you imagine what you would say if you ordered a home delivery pizza from Papa John's or Pizza Hut...and after he gave you your total...asked if you wanted insurance on the delivery...

"hey buddy...it's $18.45 for the pizza and if you want a money back guarantee on non delivery...it's $4.00 more"...

"well...what happens if I don't buy the insurance and it doesn't get delivered?"...

"oooooh...well if for any reason we don't deliver it...we keep your money and eat your pizza"...

just don't see how they get away with this...the concept of us paying extra to ensure you do your job correctly boggles the mind...

AGAIN. You seem to have this every few months. I have never had a problem with USPS,
or FedEx and either UPS.

Mike I could not agree or say it better than you just did. The frustration is you are simply screwed. Another word would have been more appropriate.
A while back my wife witnessed our mailman force a box into our mailbox crushing it and causing damage to the contents. Took it to the post office and the first words were "did you have insurance?". My wife just witnessed the damage caused by the mailman and it made no difference.

BLReed...I told you that you had no conception of time...

your..."AGAIN...every few months"...comment

that link you just posted was from August of 2008...almost 9 years ago...

don't know how long you spent digging that up from the archives...
to not make your point...

but really...
maybe you should just disregard this thread and move on to bigger and better things.....

I have a big issue with Fedex. The delivery guys REFUSE to ring or knock when they drop something on the porch. As a result, valuable packages are sometimes left out in the open to be rained on or be stolen. I've called the local depot, and been told that the delivery personnel SHOULD ring/knock. However, the fact that I've experienced the behavior for years (and by multiple personnel) suggests that the practice is sort of an unwritten rule among them. Because of this, I avoid Fedex like the plague.

Moe...
I think they tend avoid this policy...
as it might eat up more of their time...
if you catch them at the door and say thank you or engage them in some conversation...
these guys really want to get in and out it seems...
mine will ring the bell and run...
by the time i get to the door...
they are usually driving off...

MOST OF THE TIME, the service is great...in my experience. However, it just takes one louse in the chain of handling to break the whole deal. The customers who have it the worst are the ones who get assigned a bad actor to their neighborhood route. BTW, I was told by a postal worker that supervisors KNOW who the losers are and assign them to "less affluent areas" so as to cut down on complaints. How lame is that?

At least the guy got out of the truck and didn't do a Hail Mary to your door :)

so true...

watch this video...the guy that drop kicks the package on the roof is a hoot...

or you can just stick your head in the sand like an ostrich...

and say...

"quit whining...they don't make mistakes...I have never had a problem with my mail delivery"...

I always follow the tracking number, plus they deliver about the same time every day. My dog barks
also. Better than a doorbell.

In regards to USPS with the volume of course mistakes happen. Like Mike, my complaint is own up to it. You are providing a service that we pay a fee for you to do so when the mistake or problem is with the post office, the post office needs to make the situation whole. Pay for the lost or damaged item.
In regards to the situation I had with the damaged package. The post master, the boss, I spoke with said she could do nothing to the postman because of the union!

That's not entirely true. You can file a formal written complaint. One complaint won't necessarily do
it, but if they mount up they can be fired. This can be a long process sometimes requiring numerous
incidents. This may not be so bad considering some of the malcontents they come across daily. I
truly believe people get as good as they give.

It was from 12-11-2014,*12:42 AM . Your own thread and I have no concept
of time. That is funny.

2 1/2 years ago...hahaha...you exaggerate more thatn slightly on your time frame when you say every couple of months...agreed?

BLReed may I ask what is this loyalty towards USPS? Were you employed by them? It's not like they put their lives on the line for us.
In regards to Mikes comments you know sometimes it just help to vent. USPS don't give a s---!

No, the only connection I have with USPS is I buy stamps. Also, after all the years I lived in Europe I have
great appreciation for US mail carriers. They don't steal. They don't expect a bottle of booze at Christmas. They don't
deliver if there is two feet of snow on the ground. I could go on. I'm not talking an occasional bad apple.

It's not like they put their lives on the line for us.
So, we are only suppose to have "loyality" if they die. It's a bigger world than that.

I dislike people who use distraction of others for their own failings. If you feel the need to vent, be prepared
for another viewpoint.
