Frustrated with USPS... (1 Viewer)

In regards to USPS with the volume of course mistakes happen. Like Mike, my complaint is own up to it. You are providing a service that we pay a fee for you to do so when the mistake or problem is with the post office, the post office needs to make the situation whole. Pay for the lost or damaged item.
In regards to the situation I had with the damaged package. The post master, the boss, I spoke with said she could do nothing to the postman because of the union!

I agree about the issue really being about the failure to correct a mistake rather than the initial problem. I have had a few things delivered from overseas lately and the courier service gives it one go to deliver and then returns it to their main facility and then I have to collect in person. In my mind I am then paying for a service which I am not getting. I got into an argument when I could not convince them that mistakenly attempting to deliver it to one of my neighbours because number 9 is separated from number 7 by the side of a house which has its letter box and legal address in another street does not constituent an attempt at delivery in my understanding of the phrase. I then got to their main facility to be told that one of the parcels was in my wife's name and I needed written authorisation to collect. The only way I took delivery was by saying that one way or another I would be leaving with my possessions and their continued refusal to hand over my property constituted theft. A ridiculous argument but they gave me my parcels.

Something must be in the water at the USPS. After having almost no issues, ever, with the USPS, my last 3 deliveries have all had some sort of glitch. One went to the wrong city, twice, before showing up. A book I ordered from a shop in Oregon took a week to get the the distribution center in Washington State, and is still in transit, overdue and "delayed". Lastly, my most recent order from Treefrog, which I tracked, showed as delivered to my front door/mailbox, only problem being, it wasn't. It was delivered to a neighbor who thoughtfully brought it to my door. Not a good month for the USPS as far as I'm concerned. Jeesh. -- Al

It must be a pleasing thought that while you are at work your parcel is seeing the world!

Reminds me of a friend who booked a hire car for his holiday in the UK. He wanted to pick it up in Cambridge. The hire company initially held firm to their view that there was indeed a car in Cambridge waiting for him and it was quite close to the University ... of Harvard!

Sad to say, this happens to me routinely these days. I have tried everything in my power to have problems w/ USPS addressed, but I find they literally do nothing but exacerbate the issue. It's a real problem getting other people's mail w/ regularity and vice versa. USPS has become borderline inept in my town. It seems to be just another poorly run gov't agency anymore. They have forced a lot of experience folks into early retirement and replaced them w/ part timers who are either completely overwhelmed or who could give a rats' *** or both. There are constantly different carriers on my route. Things used to be much more stable w/ an exceptional postwoman. I've never had problems like this until the last 1-1/2 years or so. Pleading w/ them by any method of communication goes absolutely nowhere and just adds to the frustration and consequently my lack of faith in USPS. At best they address mail delivery problems by engaging in a buck passing game of irresponsibility. I hope things get better for everyone who is having to deal with mail delivery troubles. I used to have much more confidence in them.

I too have to vent my frustrations with USPS...
The lines are needlessly long due to the employees chatting with each other nonstop. But I could deal with this. What I can't stand is how many packages that I've ordered that just don't end up at my doorstep. Likewise, when I'm selling items online, there always seems to be a problem, such as a lost package. And when calling USPS to get my questions answered, good luck!! Who do they hire there these days?

UPS is way overpriced, and so is FedEx, but I'm almost considering using them instead these days. The service displayed at all USPS locations is entirely sub-par, and they have zero respect for their customers.

For any of you who are dealing with the atrociously sub-par service at USPS, just remember that you are not alone in your struggle.

Prost!

Gents,

I have yet to have a problem with USPS. Fast, friendly service here in San Antone...our mail lady is cool...and happy...and no packages ever have gone missing. There are a TON of vets who work at the USPS and majority of them are cool and funny. Sometime a "please and thank you" go a long way to a clerk who work's in the "NEXT!" type of employment.

I was carrying a load of boxes to the USPS the other to send and this rude *** older lady cut in front of me (outside of USPS) and did not even keep the door open for me to blindly go in. Another dude helped me out. After I was done I held the door open for her and she did not say a word. Guess where she was from (according to her license plate)?

NEW JERSEY.

Case closed.

I had the best mail carrier at work, for years. She has since gotten a new route. My new guy hasn't even opened my office door. He drops the mail in the hallway outside the door.
I had a package for pickup last week, so put it where he usually drops the mail (I used to leave them at the reception desk and my old carrier took them when she came in)...this buffoon moves the package aside, drops the mail on the floor and leaves the package!

Hey ZB, are they pre-printed USPS paid/postage boxes? If so, they can take them. When buffoonery comes next time...give him a cookie.

Yup. All printed and ready to go. The dude is too lazy to open the door, we can't expect him to take a package! Hah

I would never insult any one from New Jersey. I watched The Sopranos and I know everyone from NJ is connected!

Well, out here in California they seem to look at you like an alien when you say "please," and "thank you."
I still open doors for people, but a good 80% of the time they just won't acknowledge it. On average, most Texans I meet have much better manners than those people here in California. You'd think with all the pot-heads running around, there would be some friendly folks. Good luck! But in general, perhaps manners are being done away with in a lot of places these days.

Just have a beer or two and don't let it all get to you. Glad to hear the post is better in your neck of the woods than mine

Prost! :salute::
