Two members of the 27th Regiment of Foot (Inniskilling) stop to chat near the wilderness outpost where they are currently billeted for the winter prior to renewing operations against the French and their Indian allies in the spring. [Note: The building in the background is actually the reconstructed Fort No.4 Charlestown, NH. rather than Fort Edward which is no longer extant.]

Hi Randy,

There seems no end to your collection of FIW figures :D You have certainly got the knack of the back drop style of photography.

Regards

Jeff

Once again Huzzah for your great pics and story line Randy. Time permitting, this weekend, I plan to put up some historical info on Fort Ashby and Fork Cocke, both built in 1756 along Patterson Creek in western Viginia by order of Colonal Washington. The original barracks of Fort Ashby (now Fort Ashby, W Va) still exists and is cared for by the DAR. Of the 69 forts ordered built by Washington, this is the only fort reminant that remains. I also plan to create some factual stories myself, but alas you will have to be someone entertained with my usual "table top" pics since I am lacking in the photography techniques that you have mastered so well.

Thank you Jeff. The figures are so great that I just have to keep giving them their place in the sun.

Thank you Mike. I look forward to those posts. If you'd like I would be very happy to help you with your photography. I simply started from zero last year. PM or email you and I will send you some tips. You have good stories to tell and I think we can get you rolling with pictures to illustrate them. Heck the retired have to stick together.

Another GREAT! shoot Randy!!! Now you need to photo shop in thier cold breath again like in the other shot you did.
I think if you learned that filtering tecnique to make the whole picture just a bit dulled down to help the figures blend into the background a bit better it would look even better.
The figures would then look like they were realy there in the photo. They almost look that way now but with a bit of filtering or contrast or whatever you call it??? they would just blend in perfect.

Brilliant, Randy!

Your posts are becoming a regular part of my days entertainment. Your photos and stories nicely incorporate all of my favorite activities and interests: toy soldiers, military history, historic sites, etc... It's the next best thing to actually 'being there' I think. :)

Eventually I will also trouble you for some advice on your photo set up and photo back drop techniques if you would not mind.

Any time please fell free to ask me for help.

Tim

I was a bit under the weather today but will try to fix it up tomorrow.
I mistakenly took too many of my BP pills this AM and felt pretty lightheaded most of the day.

Hey Tim

Here's my new version--cold breath and less contrast between figure/ground. Hope you think it's an improvement:)
