Hi all! Been working on this dio of the narrow streets of Fuentes De Onoro to display my Napoleonics. I've spent about two weeks on it, and thought it would be nice to share a few photos. Hope you like it!

Very, very nice looking Ollie . . . . . Thanks for sharing your talents with the forum . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Looks great! Whose troops are going to be put in your diorama?

Brendan

I agree with Mike. That's great work for 2 weeks.

This is superbly done.I see this is your first post-you certainly have made a great start.Fuentes De Onoro(Fountain of Honour) was one of the bloodiest battles of the Peninsular campaign, mainly because the fighting in the village was done at close range in the narrow, twisting alleys-much of it "hand to hand"as the village changed hands a number of times. You have made a terrific background-I like the little touch of the weeds in the tiles on one roof.Looking forward to seeing this develop.Well done that man.

Nice job ,will go well with all eras . Something to be proud of cheers graham

This will make a fitting dio for whatever figures are used, really has lots of potential. Excellent workmanship. :salute::, Robin.

Thank you, Brendon. I collect King & Country and I have the 71st Highlanders who were present in the street fighting in the village. I'll load the village with highlanders and then hope to add a nice swarm of French infantry. I will post photos on the K&C sub forum.

Thanks for all the kind words! They are very much appreciated.

Thanks Mark. I had a lot of free time and it's so easy to get lost in the process.

Cheers! Yes, since reading Sharpe's Battle I was fascinated with the fight in the village. It must have been horrendous, no lines or columns in those tight alleys, just hand to hand bayonet work, hovel to hovel, in the sloping labyrinth of the village. My original vision was to have lots of gentle slopes working up towards a church facade, but I'm cautious of sloping for obvious reasons--I want to represent carnage but not in the sense of broken figures. I'm sure I'll work something out. Also, making the church (facade or whole) is a must!

Thanks. Yes, the more I look at it the more I think my bank account is at risk. I can imagine Romans looking great as well as many other ranges.

Superb diorama. Is it 54mm?

Yes it is. Made it for my King & Country troops.

Thanks ever so much, Robin.

That is a great job. I really like the weathered roof tiles and cobbled streets. I have been planning to do a similar Spanish village diorama myself for the K&C 71st and JJD figures. You have inspired me{sm4} Cheers Paul

Looks really good and one you'll be getting a lot of use from I think ! Well done indeed !

Cheers Steve :)

Looks Great!
What did you make the buildings out of? What was your process? (I also make terrain and am always looking for newer and better ways to do so)
Looking forward to seeing the result!

Thanks. The buildings are made from a sheet of 10mm extruded polystyrene. The stone work pattern is created by drawing it in with a ball point pen (to recess the gaps between the stone work). It's a great technique.

Had the pleasure to make a start on a church facade this weekend. It's directly inspired by the little church in the village of Fuentes de onoro. It's not a scale model by any means, tis still lacking bells also, but it does the job! I'm debating making the rest of the church, though for display purposes, probably not the most practical idea.

(Doors poached from WB Hougoumont until I get materials)

With this kind of workmanship I would be very tempted to do some more work to extend it beyond a facade. :salute::, Robin.

Ollie,

These are superb.....Andy and his brother will most likely love to see it.......for they are exactly within they range of great quality buildings as dioramas....
Let me know when you start taking orders......:salute:::salute:::salute::
Congratulations
