funds for civil war reenacting (1 Viewer)

Not a bad idea. I think I,ll start a fund "help me pay for all the new WW1 sets that are coming out".

hi everyone I have a page on gofundme.com to help me with cost of gear and maybe a new gun.

Balls of brass, that's for sure. Sorry, I don't have enough to fund my own hobbies fully, let alone to fund yours. But good luck in your venture.

Prost!

He's basically doing the equivalent of a kickstarter campaign.

If you don't like the idea, fine, but I see no need for the ridicule heaped on him.

I stand by my comment. It takes nerve to ask for others to kick in for something like this. This isn't an investment (or is it? Would those who give money own shares of his re-enactors kit?), and it's not for some kind of humanitarian purpose, like defraying medical costs. It's a ballsy move to ask other hobbyists to give you money so you can pursue the hobby.

I agree. Frankly, I'd be embarrassed to go on the dole to support a hobby.
Besides most re-enactment organizations hold their own fund raising in their
community. As an organization, not an individual. It is a group effort.

Anyone that doesn't agree are free to make a contribution. Please let us know
how much you gave besides accusing others of ridicule.

Ok, I'm in Gettysburg right now and I have my eye on an 1861 Springfield rifle. I just bought Don Troiani's "Black Hats" and some Britain's toy soldiers so now I'm short on cash. Who can help me ? Please keep in mind donations are tax deductible.

If only I'd known. I just spent my last penny on food and my BP medicine. Try me next month. ^&grin -- Al
