Fusilier, Any Thoughts???? (1 Viewer)

Yup, lots!

Seriously, I have a pretty extensive collection of Fusilier which has since combined with The Turner Family's Tommy Atkins.

NOW, do I like the original Fusilier the best, sure, there is something always great about the original pieces. That said, the Turner family does an outstanding job reproducing the fusilier pieces.

I have promised Gideon on the board to do a photo of all of the pieces I own, I will have to work on that later this summer - includes Tiger Tank, 88 gun, Roman Chariot, WW1 Big Bertha Siege gun (just sold my duplicate on ebay!), Various Armored Cars, Jeep, Transport Vehicles.

I also have a decent Tommy Atkins and Toy ARmy Workshop collection too including an original Tommy Atkins All metal Whippet tank that reminds you of the Toy Army version. Another project, I will try to get pics done of both of these collections.

I've painted a few sets of castings which I bought from Fusilier Miniatures a couple of years ago. These are now in the collections of TF members past and present.

Great figures and equipment. The Turner family are very nice people and always have a good selection of figures at the London shows.

You can visit their website here: http://www.fusilier-miniatures.com/

They also have the Hussar line in their catalog, I have a couple of them in my stash, the SYW Prussian hussars, which I think were sculpted by Alan Caton, though I may be wrong about that. Those are queued up for painting later this season.

I'd like to second Tom and Jeff's testimonials, very nice folks, and the castings are good quality and cover a range of subjects.

Prost!

You are correct, Brad. All the Hussar 54mm were sculpted by him as were quite a few of the Fusilier range including the galloping gun teams.

All of those are GREAT!!!

I just ordered my first ACW set. Anyone have any of those sets?

Jeff painted the first set pictured for me a few years ago. It's one of my favorite sets so go for it :)

Saw some of the results above - and was very impressed. So much so, I looked up their web-site - saw the WW1 Fife & Drum band - and fell in love.

BUT it was only marked as "painted" - and I love to paint my own!

SO - e-mailed them and asked - expecting a "sniffy" refusal - as often experienced with some other suppliers before

PLEASED to say, they couldn't have been nicer. Mark - he say "yes" - at only £5 a figure - and yes - I can have an extra fifer to make 13 figures.

RESULT - Well, you asked for "any thoughts".

They couldn't be nicer folks to deal with, very flexible on what they will sell you - at a very resonable price. I'll let you know how I get on with them once they've arrived - and I get my brushes out. - johnnybach.

I think pretty much everything in their catalog is available as a casting, and yes, they're excellent folks to deal with. Looking forward to seeing your finished figures!

Prost!

Hi Baron Brad
I'm waiting for the postman now! Though have to advise that they will just have to take their place in the queue - as I have been collecting lottsa stuff in the UK - and these latest recruits will be invading France once again shortly, along with a contingent of Mounties and quite a few of Old Boney's dragoons.

I should explain that my collection lives "over there" - and so does my work-desk - or what "The Commandant" refers to as "The Pit"!

So, as I believe they now say in the Colonies "Don't hold your breath buddy". As a certain British gent once said, before stepping out into the snow; "I may be some time!"
I will show them, once they're cooked, - oh! and thanks again Brad for introducing me to Fusilier. - johnnybach
