Future Waterloo Releases (1 Viewer)

Additional Waterloo troops, I quote from the workbench area of the First Legion Website:

” Figures such as the Scots Grays, Wellington and Staff, British Guards, 95th Rifles, Hanover, KGL, and Brunswick Line Infantry and Jaegers....”

The pictures showing the future Brunskwick Line and Jaegers are very nice, but my favorites are the Nassau troops they are showing.

You would think because they already have the masters made up that they would be forth-coming soon. However, that doesn’t seem to guarantee that they will be appearing anytime soon. The Prussians were never shown as a preview at all on the workbench. How many more wonderful surprises will be released before we finally see the Brunskwick and Nassau troops?

For those wanting the 95th Rifles they are most definitely on the list.

I too would recommend the new Guard Chasseurs, wonderful figures. I plan to use mine not only for Waterloo, but also to portray Ney’s rearguard forces during the retreat from Moscow.

If you like the Nassau figures, then you're going to be happy. They've been recently expanded and will come sooner than later.

As for more suprises, well, you'll just have to wait and see...we have a few things up our sleeve in addition to what's on the workbench. And let's not forget the French Old Guard Grenadiers. Like the Staff Set, we've had production problems with these figures. But also like the Staff Set, when we do release them later this year, they'll have been absolutely worth the wait. Further, and I know this will make you in particular happy, we're doing them on narrower bases so that you can pack them in like you said you preferred them oh so long ago! It's really going to be a banner year for Napoleonic collectors.

Thank you for the narrower bases. When displayed the figures, not only do they look more historically accurate, but having the narrower bases also allows me to fit more figures into a smaller area. Bottom line, it makes it so I can buy more figures. I knew you would like that.

Now when did I say that? I started this thread with the notion that the WWII blokes here should not be having all the fun and it seems I was quite right afterall.

Since we are on the subject of future Napoleonic releases have you all given any thought to adding some of the ladies? There are many great subjects from Masséna’s mistress, inadequately but delightfully disguised in a dragoon’s uniform, cantinières or vivandières, the British, French (and other) camp followers, wives and lovers, queens, spies and partisans. Of course one could do an entire line on seulement les femmes de Napoleon . Of course many were known to have fought in uniform, generally disguised but sometimes openly like Renée Bordereau who fought as a French Dragoon from 1793 to 1815. Actually that would make a pretty good movie; Kate Beckinsale perhaps?

Since we are on the subject of future Napoleonic releases have you all given any thought to adding some of the ladies? Of course many were known to have fought in uniform, generally disguised but sometimes openly like Renée Bordereau who fought as a French Dragoon from 1793 to 1815. Actually that would make a pretty good movie; Kate Beckinsale perhaps?

No, we have absolutely 100% never even discussed this. Perhaps we could do an Empress Josephine set complete with chambermaids? No thanks. We make toy soldiers with "soldiers" being the operative word. I'll never say never and if we do a camp set of some kind you might see something like this, but as of this moment it's not even on our radar.

Well, if she was a soldier then she's certainly not precluded. It's not about an unwillingness to sculpt women in the slightest, it's more about a desire to produce soldiers not civilians. Our WWII range will most likely see some females. Of course, Renee did disguise herself as a man so I'm not sure how one would go about sculpting a figure like that!

Life Guards and Innskilling are needed, correct me if i'm wrong but haven't come across many (very few at all in fact) and none of fls quality in these.

I was wondering if Matt could do two county regiments in the same way that he his doing two regiments of Wurttemburg Infantry? I would like to see the 33rd regiment. Wellington's old regiment. Any will do!

Yes I tried a couple TB Innskilling figures and was rather disappointed, especially for the price. I will wait for FL to get to them.

While we are entering the realm of wild speculation, I was wondering what British regiments you guys would like to see next? Personally, I agree that any additions to the Waterloo series would be great. However, if it were up to me, I would like to see a light or battalion company of the British Guards, so they could be displayed in line next to the Grenadiers. I am picturing the two flag bearers we have as the color party between the companies......

What do you guys think? Or would you prefer to have a set from a completly new British regiment?

I personally like the "ordinary" soldiers of the county regiments. There were more of them than the Guards and Grenadiers. The Oxford Light Infantry would be great too. And while I'm dreaming, the Dutch Brigade is well under represented.

Green jackets are at the top of my infantry list. One of the heavy cavalry regiments is at the very top. After that, I am pleased to have any red jackets.
