Just read The General's tribute to the ANZAC's and it reminded me of this docu-drama I just saw. It is called "Gallipoli" and was done in 2006. My wife got it at our local library for me. I had never seen it nor was I familier with it. It is 118 minutes long, combines memoirs, photos, re-enactments, and actual location filming. It is narrated by both Jeremy Irons and Sam Neill. I found the show to be outstanding. Done by Cinema Epoch. -- lancer

Sounds good. There is also an excellent Gallipoli docu in the three dvd series 'Great Battles of the Great War'.Well worth picking up and has some great film of the defences etc as they are today.

There is also a very good book published by After the Battle, "Gallipoli Then and Now". Consists of lots of photographs taken during the campaign with modern photos taken at the same location all accompanied by a very informed and highly readable text. Well worth getting.

I agree. Excellent book and an excellent series overall. There is also "Gallipoli: Battlefield Guide" by Major & Mrs. Holt, an outstanding work with many current color photos of Gallipoli. Taken together this is great way to study the battle short of actually getting to go there. -- lancer

I have this DVD and it's excellent. Highly recommended.
I really wish one of the 1/30 scale TS manufacturers would have a real go at WWI circa 1915-1917 in the Middle and Near East. Just my opinion of course, but I think it would be a winner - and I would certainly collect it.

Cheers

That would be the only thing that could hook me into collecting WWI. It is the only theater of that horrible conflict that I could not resist.

The Light Horse, the Desert Mounted Column, camels, horses, Turks, Aussies, Kiwis, and Brits. Whats not to like? It would be a sure winner in my house. -- lancer

I agree that sets based on the Galipoli invasion and battles in North Africa would be popular additions to the WWI range as they have a mystique about them. Of course I may be biased having seen a number of movies featuring Aussies in Galipoli and at the charge against the Turkish guns at Beersheba.

Yep sounds good, also the Brits at Gallipoli are often overlooked leading many to think it was an Anzac only operation,so its good to see them represented too.
