This was on last night. I DVR'd it for later as it is 2+ hours.
From 2009 so not new, but I missed it first time around.

Gallipoli (2009)
It began as a demonstration against the Ottoman Empire by Great Britain and her allies. Eight months later, it had become one of the most controversial campaigns of the First World War. Gallipoli was not just a battle, but also an epic tale of courage, stubborn endurance and a mutual respect for the enemy. Based on extensive research conducted in Turkey, Germany, France, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, we examine what transpired on both sides of the trenches, from the words of the men who fought and perished for their countries.

Sounds very interesting. Thanks for the link

I saw this today. I had recorded it since I apparently missed it the first time. I found it very sobering. How horrific for both sides. Just tragic. I really liked how the show followed some of the men in the trenches. That really put a human face to the misery.

What some of those men wrote back to their mothers from the Front I just couldn't believe.

Good show.
