"You gotta be a man to play baseball for a living, but you gotta have a lot of little boy in you, too."

Someone one the radio played this last night, Let's Go Mets! It was an idea the team got from the Bears 1985 video and it was a big hit. I still have it in VHS so here it is.

Brad,
Being a former baseball fanatic as a kid, Gary Carter was the catcher of my era of watching. I was a Mets fan for that wonderful season due in large part to his personality. He represents an era when they actually looked like they were having fun playing baseball out there. He made you forget it was a job. What a loss to baseball.

Tom,

As you can imagine, his passing is a big topic of discussion in New York today. When he was on the Mets he lived his life a certain way while a lot of players lived a bit on the wild side. A lot of those players like Doc Gooden are now saying they had wished (or it's their wish) that they live their life like Gary did.

Gary Carter was one of those players that captured the nostalgic idea of baseball, in that he played the game the 'right' way. He was an all-around good guy who played the sport for the fun of it, both for himself and for the fans. He didn't tarnish himself or the game with some of the issues that cloud MLB today.

I think that the game would be better off today if there were more players like Gary Carter.
