A K&C Old West series would be great. I can see the same thought applied to the design and selection of characters as in the Old Hong Kong series.

Iconic figures, like the Sheriff or Marshall, the town doctor, the town drunk, the saloonkeeper, and Miss Kitty, the madaam with a heart of gold. And of course, Indians, cowboys and ranch hands. And think of the scenic pieces!

Prosit!

April is ver-r-r-r-r-ry early to be predicting a pennant. And the Cubs have to get past the Cardinals (my second favorite team) and Houston. ;)

Good job on stirring up the discussion!

 Maybe Laurel and Hardy joins the Navy, or 3-Stooges go to War; or Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin goes to the Desert? :) Have a happy Day!

Baseball? Is that a sport? :D

Football is America's game!

I'd say they both are, but they come from different aspects of our national character.

There's nothing more American than watching a ballgame on a warm summer afternoon, with some cold beer, some hot dogs, unless it's cheering for your team from the grandstand on a crisp fall afternoon and tailgating with some good beer and barbecue before and after. Mmmmmmmmmm-barbecue, aghlghlghlghlghlghlghlghlghl!

Prost, beianand!

Great post it makes me feel very warm and fuzy! I can never get enough baseball or football. Excellent comments you put a smile on my face!

They both represent different parts of our character. George Carlin did a great skit on this several years ago, e.g. you play baseball on a field whereas you play football on a gridiron. Baseball represents a time in the past that still resonates with Americans whereas football represents more of the 20th Century hurly burly.

I predict that once again my beloved Reds will, unfortunately, not win a pennant:eek:. Oh for the days of Morgan & Bench.:(

As a Mets fan (and I know from where I speak), the lot of a baseball fan (unless you're a Yankee fan or maybe a Braves fan) is to savor those few moments when your team hits the top because for the most part our lot is to endure losing.

This year again for the second year in a row after winning the Stanley Cup, I have had to endure a terrible ending to the regular season for my Carolina Hurricanes. 2006 was such an incredible year for the Canes and I really love that memory. In fact, I was watching the Canes in the Stanley Cup final on my honeymoon!!! What a dreadful end to this year's season. Yes, savor those awesome moments for your team because unless you pull for one of the bandwagon teams that seem to win every year, there are more painful moments than ones of pure joy. Man, that was a depressing statement!

Sad but true. I've been a Mets fan since the creation. I even saw a game in the old Polo Grounds before they tore it down in 1964. What a sad end to the field where Willie patrolled.

At any rate, I've seen 1969 and 1986 and suffered the mild disappointment of 1973 and 2000, the disappointment of 2006 and the awful loss to the Dodgers in 1988. In between that: a wasteland -- some really bad years, some decent years and some hopeful years. But that's why we're fans: we keep coming back in hope of one more great season, of another championship.

Did I mention I am a Cubs fan? Sometimes that hurts to say buy I love the Cubbies anyway!

I think I can understand your "gripe" but believe you have skewed it the wrong way re K&C over weighting their WW products. What you really mean I believe is that this forum is dominated by WW collectors who are avid fans and appear to be much more vocal when extolling WW AV's and figures- especially the K&C range- in comparison to other members who remain almost silent about other era's that they may or want to collect.

Let me elaborate a little on my statement before you and the WW collectors blow me out of my bunker. I have to agree with the comments posted by Harry, Brad, Rob and Andy that the K&C collection really does have something for everyone and not just WW stuff just a glance at their catalogue tells you that's a pretty good variety of eras they are offering. Now currently it might not be your bag as I know by your posts you're a big Custer/Indian/Western fan and so am I but the truth is if there are other members with the same interest out there they tend to be dumb about it or too shy to discuss on the forum.

You may know or you may not that my passion is the ACW and when I joined what I thought was a predominantly US toy soldier forum I did expect to meet quite a number of other civil war nuts but the truth is they are very few and far between on here. Sure they are out there but hardly inundate the forum with comments and interesting info as the WW guys do. My ACW and recent FIW dios have had a great number of hits on them and quite a lot of complimentary and appreciative comments but rarely have there been any questions or comments on the war/battle itself unlike a WW dio which invariably gets dozen of comments on camouflage/decals/weapons/uniforms etc. once again it's the genuine passion, explicit knowledge and vocals of the WW collectors on the forum.
Likewise a discussion thread Capitol Ron started on the ACW a couple of months ago which I joined in with relish but after Ron disappeared and never came back it ended up with me being the only clown posting comments which I have now stopped and the thread has subsequently died. Randy had the same problem with his FIW topic and the same couple of usual suspects were the only guys posting. But I do agree that it is noticeable that a thread on Tiger tanks will last for months with a tremendous amount of active participation from like-minded WW collectors, that's just the way it is and dare I say a little unfair to lay at K&C's door that they dominate their product with WW stuff because after all if I was in the business of manufacturing toy soldiers and just used this forum as a yard-stick on what's currently popular with collectors by analysing the comments and polls that are regularly posted here I would definitely be producing far more WW figures and tanks than K&C are currently offering. That's the first rule of a successful business-give em what they want!

My apologies - UK Reb

I really felt you and few others were doing a great job of sharing your knowledge and I was enjoying reading your posts.

I did stop going to the thread - because I usually rush through the K&C section - quick peek at JJD - glance the Sellers areas - then have to go.

I think we should try again and I will post more often.

Ron

You guys look to have a good team this year plus you play in one of the greatest places and greatest towns so things are pretty good :)

As usual Reb, you are right on the money. This forum and our hobby is what we make of it. If I can not find it I make it. If I can not afford it I make it! I will have it if it is important to me. I am having fun. Hope you guys are having fun too.
