I managed to obtain some worth while display space just recently at about 28 by 10 inches and I decided to have a diorama of Napoleon as a still young general in July 1798 when he led an expedition with a French Army of about #25,000 soldiers into Egypt. The new diorama is on top of a bookcase. I placed a piece of felt as the intial "ground cover" & then placed a small amount of playbox sand to cover the figures' stands and the area between the figures, etc. I also put up a medium blue section of poster board paper as a backdrop. I have #10 figures spanning K&C sets NE003, 004, 006, 007, 008, 010, 014, 016 & 017, Plus sets NE009 "Monument", NE012 "Ruined Temple" with columns & a "Sphinx", K&C set AE046, from K&C's Ancient Egyptian series. These sets seem to make up a colorful diorama and represent an interesting period of history. As I recall I was first made aware of Napoleon's 1798 invasion of Egypt when I was in a world history class in high school. The famouis "Rossetta Stone" was discovered by chance by one of Napoleon's soldiers. See #5 photos attached below.

Very nice dio Gary ... Thank you for sharing.

You take a lot of effort with your display. Mine are usually in glass cases :redface2:

Gary,

nice work.... its giving me thoughts for how I'd like to display my figures from this range.

So far I only have the Monument getting defaced by soldiers, but the other pices really help depicting the surroundings of the desert of Egypt.

I think I may get a couple of camels too from the LOJ series to add some more animals. as I love Bonaparte on his camel, and the Arab guide.

Well Done !!

Hello "OldDragon":

Thanks for your nice comments. Ah, display space is a big problem, perhaps at times even bigger than the the cost of sets which have really gone up these past few years. I enjoy making up realistic as possible dioramas with trees, sand, grass, etc & to have some kind of backdrop cover. But, this is not always possible or practical in every situation.

Dear John:

Thank you very much for your comments. I decided to just use the standing Napoleon figure rather than the one on the camel. I also decided not to get the Arab Guide & the soldier with ad hoc "Sun Canopy" figures. But, I will look into the camels from K&C's "LoJ" series as this may indeed be a good idea for possible use in any diorama for the Napoleon in Egypt series. Thanks for bringing that idea up as I had not thought about it. Thanks again for your comments!

Best regards, Gary

Hello Mike:

Thank you for your kind comment! Thanks to prior comments posted by "Obee" / John of Australia about perhaps using camels from K&C's "LoJ" or Life of Jesus series I will very soon be adding K&C set# LoJ 005C "Sitting Camel" to this 1798 Egyptian diorama. I just ordered it today from Treefrog Treasures with promised delivery to be the next day as I only live 250 miles away from Treefrog Treasures place of business in Eyota, MN. Being a member at the Forum can give a person some great ideas.

Gary,

Excellent use of these great figures, and very nice touch on the groundwork. {bravo}} I think this range is becoming very popular and it will be interesting to see where it goes, and you and others with it.

I happen to collect NAPS, but have only taken 2 pieces from the NE range as additions to my "Other Range Collection". On that list is definitely the NE Napoleon, which is an incredibly colorful and well sculpted figure.

Thanks for sharing the pics, and look forward to your expanding dio.

Joe
