Gericault's Charging Chasseur au cheval (2 Viewers)

Hi Louis,

Your son has great taste. ^&grin^&grin

I've added some gilt paint to this piece. The blade is blued at the upper part. The oil paint has been rubbed off on the buttocks where I had to hold thefigure while painting it.

After a marathon final WIP on this piece, it's completed.

Note the added hair on the mane and tail. I also added some froth (UHU) to the horse's mouth.

The horse was drilled and fixed to the background which was further touched up and final painting was done on the piece. Now waiting for it to dry before I fit on the frame.

WOW !!!

Looks just like the painting ....

It is a great job you have been doing with this figure Victor, much better looking than mine just sitting on it's base, your diorama frame brings the whole scene.

Well Done,

John

Victor,

just amazing!! Even my wife, who generally has no use for toy soldiers (she has been to the third floor of our home, where my collection is displayed perhaps 5 times in 15 years) thought it was amazing!👍👍

Hi John,

I have my moments, I guess. hahaha. Maybe, its easier to paint just one side of the figure; great training from flats...

Hi Louis,

Your family has amazingly great tastes! ^&grin^&grin^&grin

Actually, there were a couple of moments when this project threatened to derail. When I had to resculpt the shabraque because I got that wrong. And after I had painted the figure and the green paint still hadn't dried and got all over the place. Luckily I persisted.

Now looking to do some classical art paintings....

I fitted magnetic latches on the box and frame and it is not completed. I have taken several pics from different angles. Although it is very clear, the camera lens always catches the glare. Weird. Thanks for watching.

Victor, this is one of the coolest, most creative projects I've seen in the hobby!:salute:: Thank you for sharing the process with us. I wish I had half your talent!

Victor,

you have excelled yourself with this presentation of the figure.

A 3-D representation of a 2-D painting ..
Well Done !!!

John

Hi John and Louis,

Thank you for your kind compliments. Hopefully, more to come.

I hadn't intended to put any lights into this small shadowbox originally. However, I've now put in a small light so that I can enjoy it at night. Space and placement does restrict my light source.

Victor, it looks amazing! :salute:: I can't get over your conversions of paintings to three-D shadow boxes!!

That's brilliant Victor,

you are a true artist with you transformation of a painting into the Third Dimension :)

Well Done,

John

Hi Louis and John,

Again you guys are giving me too much credit. Eventually, it will go to my head and then, poof- no more magic. hahaha.

The learning lesson for me is that with small dioramas, the space for putting in sufficient lights in the correct position is limited.

For these small dioramas, in my opinion, they are best viewed in daytime with the lights switched on.

Alternatively, for small scenes, I will have to house them in a larger shadowbox with more depth to shine the light on the subject frontally.

Got to think more about this. No rest for the wicked....

Every time I take this piece out to show it around, I notice the figure shaking a bit. This is bcos it is pinned down on two legs. So I drilled and inserted a brass rod from the back, abutted against the horse head and glued this in place and cut off the excess length. No more shaking figure.

I’ve been adding brass name plates to all my pieces. I’ve realised that for some of the smaller shadow boxes, ive added lights but the piece shld still be viewed under daylight.
I’ve never taken a proper with without lights and closeup pics. So here it is.
