The 8 K&C german horse soldiers are one of my favorite sets and I've always wanted to add to them when it struck me that I'm half way there with the sets DD-71 & 72, both having the german mounts. The first one was no work as the horse in DD-72 is standing alone and the Del Prado Cavalry figure are both good to go. Couldn't waste the airborne figure so I added to his injuries and put his arm in a sling. Cut it, turned it, and made the sling from 2 part epoxy putty stretched and rolled thin as paper. Am having a problem finding a good color to match the para's uniform, any help would be appreciated.

The second was my first attempt at sculpting, I removed the rider from DD-71 and used the top half of a figure from set WS-39 attack set. everything from below the belt to the top of his boots is sculpted from 2 part epoxy and then I attached a set of boots with scratchbuilt stirrups.
All in all it went pretty smooth though it was slow thinking thru the process for the first time, but I won't hesitate to try sculpting again and with what I know now the time will be much shorter.

Great mods there. The Officer and Scout are my picks from that set, the rest of the horses could have been better imo, but that doesn't stop them selling for heaps on eBay. I hope K & C do another German WWII Cavalry set but with the riders in Camo smocks.

I also have the riderless horse DD-72 but I put the captured Officer with arm in sling from set DD-058 with it. I think it's a good figure as it has the classic SS Camo smock combined with unusually patterned pants.

Great mods and sculpting Ray! Look very impressive. Can't help with a colour match, as I've not tried matching the K&C Airborne colours.

BTW, on a slightly different note, did you know that Del Prado also did an Arab Legion Sergeant figure in Jordan 1948? It would be a perfect figure to add to your LRDG / SAS Del Prado converts.

Nice work both of you. I quess there is some hope for some of those bleedin' DP figures, huh?

Thanks Simon, Does this guys head/headress look familiar?
Used that figures head and headress on top of prieser upper body parts and K&C's AK28 the prisoner bottom half to make my Bren gunner for the back of my LRDG vehicle I made a while back.
I showed in in the thread "Short Range Desert Group"

Ha! The conversion was too slick for me and I missed it:D
Only just discovered this figure and managed to pick it up for a couple of quid. One of Del Prados more detailed offerings.
Great conversion BTW. You're responsible for me hacking bits off perfectly servicable DP figures now.

Cheers
Simon

The Del Prado pieces are great for hacking to pieces, did a horse one too, used to be a napolenic horse and rider , cut of the torso and attached the torso from a del prado spanish civil war guy and slapped on some paint, intend to do a few more and hopefully get a bit better at it, pieces are cheap off ebay compared to K&C :D:D:D:D

Nice job RedHugh, It's a fun challenge and really not as scary as those who have never tried it might think, Keep it up!!

Yes, your Reiter are very nicely done!

I don't have any Del Prado figures, but I might have to get some, too, to try as raw material for conversion.

Prost!

These are very good, it's nice to see somebody enjoying themselves! After all that's what this hobby is all about.

Regards

Jeff

Nice work there! Wouldn't have thought of being able to convert the Ardennes guy to mounted.
