re: rejection of Christie. It wasn't only that the bureaucracy rejected his ideas (the "not invented here" syndrome) but apparently J. Walter Christie was VERY difficult to work with. Be didn't want to just sell the novel suspension, but he wanted things done HIS way!
The Russians bought into the Christie idea and ended up using that style of suspension on the T34 (among others). Despite some books statements to the contrary the Christie suspension is not the same as the later torsion bar suspension.
