Gettysburg/Gods & Generals Limited Collectors Edition Release on Bluray (1 Viewer)

For the price the deleted scenes had better be Kali Rocha (Mrs. Jackson) in her corset and chemise and Longstreet's day dream as written in the original novel of Killer Angels.

LOL I reckon if the above scenes are included Maxwell will get slapped with a R rating that he got for his first cut of G&G.

The Gettysburg new edition is only 17 minutes of deleted scenes being restored and amongst them no doubt will be the scene of Lee's meeting with Powell Hill; Ewell and Jubal Early on the night of the first day as all three characters were listed in the cast but never seen in any of the DVD cuts.

Of more interest for me will be the full one hour that has been re-instated for G&G. This will include the John Wilkes Booth sub story which Maxwell injected for lining up the last of the trilogy he never got to make. Also the Battle of Antietam could be back in place which most buffs/historians were beside themselves when he cut the whole of it from the theatrical release. The reason he did this- apparently- was that his first cut received an R rating for graphic depiction of violence on the battlefield (the real deal was after all one hell of a "bloody" fight) he did no more than cut the whole scrap.

Only guy I know who saw the full 480 plus minute cut of G&G was my old long gone buddy Harry the Heid who amongst his stash had a Chinese pan and scan copy on two or three VHS tapes. Harry gave me a blow by blow report on the missing scenes and I always felt we may have got a more realistic depiction of Jackson as a darn fine combat commander instead of just the pious Evangelical character we ended up with in the theatrical cut and subsequent DVD release.

This does look promising. Loved G-burg (mostly) and hated G&G (mostly). Would like to see restored scenes from both movies, though. -- Al

More battle scenes would be good. It's like playing "Where's Waldo" spotting guys I knew from Reenacting.

I don't know about giving Ron Maxwel any more money if he's still an anti-immigration speaker.

............

Any Civil War movie should not make combat or slavery "comfortable" for the viewer as G & G does.

More battle scenes would be good especially any battle that Stonewall had a hand in winning as the movie is mostly about him. The Valley, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam .......where are they in G & G?

I spotted the non-Blueray version DVD in the local Walmart bargain bin for $5.00 each. A lot of movie for this price.......
