I understand the annual show is this weekend at the Eisenhower Hotel. New digs. I had forgotten all about it until George reminded me. That can mean only one thing. The beautiful weather we are having will turn cold and rainy. It seems to be raining every time I go to this show.

Please, no rain; nothing and I mean nothing worse than loading and unloading the van when it's raining.

I remember one year it was 90 degrees the day of the show, boy was that fun loading the van after the show, I looked like I was jumping rope in the attic when I was done...............

Wow, there's going to be a Lego ACW display?

Didn't know they had Lego's back in 1863; you learn something new everyday.

Despite the Lego display, I hope the turnout is good, looks like it's going to be a nice day weatherwise.

Hope to see some of the TFT forum members there, I'll have 9 tables of merchandise for all to see, touch, look at and go home with. The going home with part is the most important.................

I have never been to one of these Gettysburg shows before. ( Been to the HMGS conventions many times there).
I am looking forward to going, despite the Leqo diorma. LOL

Lego has done a heck of a job re-marketing itself. That seemed like a product doomed to the dustbin in the electronic age. But they have produced a number of sets tied to popular movies and TV shows. Not something I would be interested in, but it seems to be wildly popular among younger folks.

OKAY .... so who made it to Gettysburg and what was happening .... great finds .... long lost treasures ... superb deals?
Pictures anyone? Curious minds want to know ..:rolleyes2:

I stopped in briefly to pick up some items from George. The good news is that it wasn't raining for once and there was a lot more space in the new location. The bad news is that the hotel is dark and dirty. It's probably a bad sign when you start to Google the hotel's name for directions and it automatically suggests adding "bed bugs" to the search. LOL. Nothing really unusual about the show itself. The Lego display was the only thing that I had not seen a million times before. A lot of the typical KC, First Legion, Jenkins displays etc. There seemed to be about as many dealers as attendees. Probably because there wasn't much publicity and no signs even in the hotel. A bit of a depressing vibe except for George. My kids were at the hotel's game arcade across the street. So I had to walk down to meet them and got caught up in the finish of a Wounded Warrior bike event which was interesting because I had no clue what was going on. It was like a sponteous parade in the middle of nowhere. The game arcade was as depressing as the hotel. We were the only people there on a Sunday afternoon. It was like a set on the Walking Dead. My wife insisted that I take our son on the Go Cart track. About the second time around it broke down about a mile from the finish line. My daughter kept lapping us slowing each time to taunt until it was determined that our car was kaput. We then had to make the walk of shame off the track. It was deemed the best part of the day by my daughter.

Ok, this post is gold.

And yes, the hotel is a bit worn, I never stayed there when Fall In (wargaming convention) was held there, one of the dealers who stayed at the hotel was itchy all day long; best of luck with that, when your freckles start moving around, it's not a good thing.

Bed bugs aside, I liked the new venue, load in and out was much easier, the hall was bigger, not as dark as the old one, circulation was better, air quality was better, I had tons more room behind my tables for my stock.

Thanks for all the members who came and supported myself and the other dealers who attended.

This was one of those morning set ups; up at 3:00am, at the hotel by 4:00am, unloaded by 5:00am, set up by 10:00am, worked till 3:00pm, broke down and loaded the van till 6:00pm, then dinner at an outstanding Italian restaurant with Chris Yother from the forum, thanks for the help Chris and the dinner company..........

Good review of the hotel and show. Was larger room, more dealers than before. Not much in glossies, or older TS stuff. I found a retired KC DD50 Hellcat with no box, but full crew and in excellent shape for only $100.00. I did look at the new CS WW2 gaming models, but found them somewhat small, much smaller than my 28mm Warhammer pieces. Unless someone can actually place a legit 28mm model next to CS stuff for comparison, I am going to hold off buying, at least for now..Michael

I attended the Gettysburg Show on several occasions in the past; however, I have not done so in the last two years and will probably not go in the future. Reason: The toy soldier promoters of the show simply have ignored my inquiries, never responding via e-mail regarding my questions about it. Now, I am not a seller or with the "in-crowd" to be sure, but as a customer I expected better treatment anyway.

Sorry to hear about your experience, that seems very out of character for the promoters not to get back to you.

I know in the past there were three dealers who were promoting the show and one of them dropped out of the show, leaving just two. Now it's down to one and he is very pro active regarding getting back to people.

If it helps, as a vendor who's attended the show since the first time they ran it, I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the show, my email is gguerriero@msn.com and my company is Minutemen Toy Soldiers; if I don't know the answer to your question, I will contact them and get the answer for you.

Again, sorry for your troubles...........

Gettysburgbuff, if you have any questions/issues/etc on most any show the best person to talk to is George of Minuteman toy soldiers, he goes to many of the East Coast shows as has been doing it for years, a good guy all around, just gotta get past that accent ^&grin^&grin...Sammy
