I was a little surprised to see that upon focussing on my glossy displays during the last couple of months, how difficult it was to find trees and other vegetation in gloss.

But here is what I found at this point (no guarantee of completeness hence!):

Any suggstions or observations?

Very nice, I have a few Trophy versions of glossy trees and bushes

Cheers

Those are very reminiscent of the old Schneider half-round pieces, Andreas, especially the palms. If I'm not mistaken, Britains even used the Schneider pieces, and some from other German molds, at one time.

If you're looking for more, and willing to paint your own, I'd look on eBay and at the shows. I see lots of those castings, some painted, some bare castings. I'm sorry that I don't have any of those molds, or I'd cast you some. There used to be a seller at Renninger's in Adamstown who had a couple of the original bronze molds for the large fir, and some smaller evergreens, but he always wanted more than I was prepared to pay. He may still have them today.

Prost!

i think your right that you must have glossy veg. , it just looks appropriate. I would think the glossy stuff would be cheaper when you can find it as the demand is lower?
Ray
P.S. have you thought about a gloss over spray on matt pieces?

Wonderful displays Andreas. Keeps your eyes peeled on eBay as WB made some years ago for their Home Farm series. They made an oak, elm, fir, cedar and also a 3 dimensional tree along with a tree with a gate attached.

Thank you for the comments.

I will check out the WB trees. They are very nice. I was under the impression, though, that they can be quite pricey.

I had not thought of spraying existing matt trees with a gloss - do you think the selection in matt is larger? I did not think so.

I find it interesting that none of the usual suspects is doing any trees at this point. I would think it is a given with the gloss figure manufacturers such as Beau Geste. Kudos therefore to TedToys and Ani as well as Bill the Toymaker to step in.

Yes you're correct the trees can be expensive but you sometimes find a bargain.

Regarding the matt trees, they are usually 3 dimensional and more realistic so I doubt you could make them glossy. Perhaps spray with a gloss varnish? JG has some as do others but they are pricey and I doubt whether they would add the charm that the flat trees do.

I totally agree with you.

I am not aware of a large selection of flat trees and bushes in matt.

I think the three manufacturers have to suffice for now - short of painting your own.

Ted's also come in different fall colors, Dave has a huge selection regularly on eBay and I noticed a "new" tree from ANI. I think I will be covered for awhile ...

Sorry my mistake. I was talking about the 3D trees by JG etc...I didn't mean flat trees in matt. I wasn't even aware they made the flats in matt.
