Sad news Queen Elizabeth has past away today at 96 years old, I'm not one to follow to much of the Royal family but she was of immense grace and dignity, God bless the Queen and thoughts and prayers for all the people of England.

There has never been a day in my life when here wasn't the Queen, as a kid she would stare down upon us in every classroom, she was in every official office, very pub and RSL, she was on the back of our coins and notes and God save Queen closed the telly at night back then. We packed show grounds when she came on a visit, dressed up with our school ties and long socks. I am not a monarchist, but she was a part of all of our lives, you just know something you may never witness again has past, like the world seems not the same anymore... RIP Your Majesty.

What a stabilizing influence on the not just the UK but the world. Loved and admired by all. Been a big fan of The Crown, a fictionalized account but still engrossing. Hopefully Charles will find success as king.
BTW, we still haven't forgiven George III. :smile2:

Got to meet the Queen on her visit to the US in 1957. She visited Children's Hospital in DC and I was a patient at the time, being treated for arthritis. The staff lined up a bunch of us in the old-fashioned wheel chairs and the Queen came down the line saying 'hello' to each of us. I was too young to realize who and what she was at the time but I have always remembered the occasion. RIP, Queen Elizabeth. -- Al

Yeah man,

Condolences all around to my UK friends. She'll be missed. Sad, sad news.

Today, with the coming State Funeral for Her Majesty in a few hours time, I have set up a small display of some of my toy soldiers as a tribute to this special lady.

The centrepiece is a Coronation Coach which is my oldest toy I have.

It came from a Coronation Party cake in my Uncle and Aunt's street in Barking, London in 1954 and they asked if they could have it for their 'little nephew' in Australia as a memento of that event. Luckily it has survived, well almost, one horse has lost his head.

It has been set up with street liner soldiers and on the window sill above them is a 13 Pdr Field gun of the King's Troop RHA firing a Royal Salute.

The other item of interest is the 105mm Howitzer cartridge case which was presented to me and all members of 7Fd Bry RAA after we fired three Royal Salutes in Perth for Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee Tour to Australia in 1977.

God Bless Our Queen
