but just a small one...

anybody that has been to the Texas Toy Soldier Show at the Menger hotel in San Antonio...

has probably seen this small Alamo display in the hallway...

I'm guessing Gordon made it...but really not sure...

the double image in the pics is because there is a mirror behind it...

I have always wanted to make one...

just a small cut out section 20" x 20"...

even though I have no room in my house to display it...

and will eventually try to sell it at the show when I tire of it...

I built the frame already...

stained and varnished it in high gloss urethane...

and started sculpting the first wall...

nothing really exciting to show here...

mostly just announcing I'm gonna try to make one...

I will show some progress when I get some...

I'm using the retired Alamo facade...

Sure it will be a roaring success like everything else you have built. Keep us posted. Robin.

I thought you built that facade and I said to myself 'My God that man is good!{bravo}}
Mark

Nice start Mike and I reckon you'll finish it before I start laying my grass!!

Tom

It is already getting to your standards, I'm sure.

Nice diorama !

I noticed the olde "bottle" hanging by the side...it reminded me of: "And now Little John took up his stout staff, at the end of which hung a chubby little leathern pottle, such as palmers carry at the tips of their staves; but in it was something, I wot, more like good Malmsey than cold spring water, such as godly pilgrims carry."

From _Little John Turns Barefoot Friar_ by Howard Pyle.

Thank you for the pictures.

Sorry about your golf !

You made good use of the time...takes a lot of work, but when done that 'hidden' effort shows through.

Than you for posting.

Wow Michael . . . . just WOW!
Very fun to see your work in progress :)

Julie

I got some progress to show...

everything is solid in place...

very secure...

and painted...

I repainted the Alamo facade as I thought it was a little too yellow...

and matched the additional buildings and decaying/damaged brick and mortar...

real happy with the color...

I'm gonna try to do some doors today...

Easy to see why you are happy with the colour...anything I do takes forever...you have got this down pat.

Thank you

I can't wait until the troops move in to occupy that beauty!

Mike, it looks great so far. Have you decided what figures to place in the diorama?
Brian

I have friend who was going to visit San Antonio. I told him you got to check out the Alamo. He said, he checked it out on the internet, didn't think it was that good and wasn't sure he would go. I said, what!!? That's a huge part of our history. So he returns home and I ask him how was the Alamo and his reply was, it was okay, at least it was free. I couldn't believe it. People.
BTW Mike, very good job. When I retire (a long time from now), I'll connect with you for diorama tips.
