A French collector asked me a couple of day ago if I could make a diorama for him using his K&C collection of WW2 French Soldiers .
I accepted and was paid in advance in K&C dollars, (trucks, tanks and airplanes )
Do you think I made a good or a bad deal ?

What do you think ?????????????
 
Sounds like you got some nice stuff Guy; what kind of diorama are you going to make him? Just need to calculate a little cost/benefit.

a French military barracks scene from the 1940's.
I do not have to pay for any figures or vehicles . It's all coming from his collection .
The barracks with a workshop next to it, some walls, some trees and the ground cover will be my total expense

I agree with Rob….:) it seems like you've made a good deal... although it depends on the type of dio that you're going to make for him! {eek3}

It’s not possible to evaluate a transaction unless we know what would be your fee for making the diorama.

Well done ! From the boxes and your list it sounds like you have got a really good bargain assuming that you're happy with the pieces you got which being WW2 stuff which I know you like I would assume a lot of the pieces will come in very handy ! Even for pieces you have no interest in there is always ebay or even a trade with someone on the forum.
Now you need to see if you can get a discount on scenic items you're going to need to build this diorama !

Assuming the person who commissioned you is ok, please share photos of the diorama when you've finished.

Will do Steve, although it will not be in the near futur. First I have to finish my "On Flanders Roads" dio .
The guy who commissioned me is surely OK (He gave me his whole collection of WW2 figures and vehicles in advance !!!) and he knows that I am never in a hurry to finish a dio.
We agreed the diorama to be finished by December ;

a 40cm by 30cm diorama with entrance gate,inner court and barracks in the back together with repair shed.

for a diorama 40cm by 30cm with +/- 8 figures and 1 vehicle + 1 building, I charge €1195 up to €1495 (depending on the cost of the figures and the vehicle and including my work fee).
But don't forget this time I do not have to invest my money in figures or vehicles!!!

Thanks. So, do the pieces you received have a market value in Belgium greater than your fee? If yes, than, yes, it’s a good deal :)

Thanks for clarifying. I thought you might be the client, annoyed that Guy is boasting.
