Gordon Highlanders...

The First Sudan War 1884-1885...

I wasn't sure how to display these...

First off...I don't like the sand I used...it's too "sparkly"...but I'll figure something else out maybe...

I was mostly anxious just to take a photo...

it's a Barzso building..."Tripoli Shores"...which I think is in Libya...but it looks okay to me...geographically...those types of buildings are pretty much indigenous to all of the Middle East and some surrounding areas...

I painted the wood frames and added the wood planks in the windows...just didn't like the open look before...

I hope this doesn't touch off another war on the jackets...

I personally like these a lot and I will continue to buy them all...in fact the "cartoon version" is my new desktop wallpaper...but I'll change that as soon as I take a photo of the next newest set...

Very nice Michael, the sand doesn't appear too sparkly in the photo. What about sawdust? Either way looks good, the building looks great also with the figures and the embelsihments.

Looks good Michael. I have no plans yet to collect these figures.... but they are nice.

very well done as always Mike....now we need more highlanders !!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I agree. They can't come fast enough imho. There’s two more figures next month and then the Gatling and crew in September.

Very nice display. The sand looks very realistic.
I got these 2 figures yesterday. IMO the left one is a bit too tall, am I wrong ? When I put this kneeling soldier to other standing soldiers, they have nearly the same height...
Additionally I was rather shocked, when I noticed, that this Highlander wears no underwear :D:D:D.

Another nice photograph Michael. I always like the cartoon versions the best.
:) Mike

Hope to see lot's more photo's of set-up's using JJ figures in the next few months. Just received my first ever JJ figures which are these Sudan figures. They look great and I have now ordered dupilcates and I am in for the long haul on this range. They blend in well with my Britain's Zulu British, therefore it stands to reason they will more than compatible with Britain's upcoming Sudan range which I have already ordered. I will also be keeping an eye on the Conte line to see if they blend in and at least get their buildings etc they are promising. The JJ look great with my Britain's Sudan medic riding a camel. Cheers, Robin.

if anyone is interested.

Well you will not be lonely anymore Mike, I am right into this. Yes you found the only site I know and thats who I bought the medic from in around February. Did you notice the second part of this figure with the 2 camel strecher, been delayed from May until November (a must have despite the price). Will chase that new book as soon as it is available "go strong into the desert". I have 4 sets of the palms released this year by K&C, a must have to set the scene. (see their desert village buildings range for the palms, I have all the buildings, great backdrops for Ancient Egypt, wwi Light Horse/Turks and now Sudan. Have 4 sets on order from JJ for the next two Highlanders, also will be holding out for those Gatling guns which may get a work out in my Zulu collection as well. Britain's are releasing a Nile boat expected at year's end which I must have, but at a $1000 it may test me. Catch you soon, Robin

I am confident the Britain's Sudan will be the same in height and structure as the JJ are a fit with the Britain's Zulu British figures. I will post a photo soon.
