Hello fellow Members,
I have a coworker who helped me out in time of need. After a friendly conversation, I came to find out that he re-enacts with a group of Drummers of the Gordon Highlanders WWI era.

To return a favor, I would like to purchase a figure or set of Drummers or Drum Major of the Gordon Highlanders WWI era.

I would welcome any toy soldier leads pointing me in the right direction to TS companies who provide single figures or bands of Gordon Highlanders WWI Figures or sets.

Thanks in advance for any help or tips. :)

Walt

Walt,

there are a few Highland figures out on the market, but you need to give us more deatils.

You say WW1 so they could be in khaki or on-parade in red tunics?

Do you want marching or standing?

Gloss or matte?

Painted figures or castings?

This will help in finding your troops,

but as a sample, here are some DUCAL bansmen I painted

I found this pic of King and Country's Gordon Highlander pipe band (I think), don't know what era they are, but I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable guys can tell you. {sm4}

Hi John, Thanks for the info. Yes, I guess more detail in what I am looking for would help. Sorry for the late reply, swamped work this week.

You say WW1 so they could be in khaki or on-parade in red tunics? I shared a phot of himself in a parade. Uniform looked like khaki with a kilt. So not sure if it would matter.

Do you want marching or standing? Either.

Gloss or matte? As far as I know, this would be his first set, so I guess it would depend on the quality of the piece.

Painted figures or castings? Painted, me eyes are too far gone to paint. I like the Ducal set. Any other hints you come across would be welcomed.

Hi Mike,
Are these sets still available? The khaki uniform looks close to the photo he shared of himself as drum major in a parade.

Thank you for the pic and company info.

Hi Wayne, Thanks for the pic. This early K&C set is very nice, although as you mentioned I'm not sure if it is WWI era.

I know if I purchase a set for my friend, a WWI era set would be my goal.

thanks, Walt

Hi Wolf - Dorset Soldiers in the UK do a set of WW1 Highlanders which includes a Piper and Highlanders advancing with rifle at the ready - which might fill the bill. They are wearing aprons over their kilts - so could be any regiment. Ask for steel helmets on the heads to make them look very realistic. They are wearing khaki jackets and the correct rifle/webbing for the time.

You could buy them as castings - and get someone local to paint them for you too? Maybe Kilted Vampire could help you out there?

Have a look at them on Dorset Soldiers website. There's a small picture on the WW1 page - set number 1606 - you can have any number you like. Hope this helps - johnnybach

Hi Walt,

Yes, the Hiriart WWI Gordon highlander set is available. Although the two attached photos are not Gordons, they give you an idea of what Hiriart's other World War I highlanders look like. I have them all in my collection.

The British Toy Soldier Company makes WW1 highlanders. You can look at their website and I know have some US retailers
