Its on a job by job basis, obviously depending on the intracacy of the work involved. I suspect a small (2 foot square) diorama like the two battle of the bulge dioramas would start out relatively affordable (maybe around $400-$500), and get more expensive when you add scratch built buildings (like the ruined church and burnt out farmhouse) or custom one of a kind vehicles (which you can't order, but which are sometimes offered with the dioramas). The best thing to do is e-mail Gordon at K&C with what you want built, and request a quote.

Guys, the reason I started this thread was to discuss Gordon making official K&C dioramas, not to get everybody up in arms. So maybe I should get us going in another direction: What custom diorama would you like K&C to make for you?

I'll get us started. I intend to have Gordon make me an aircraft hanger for my RAF airfield diorama and the bridge and a 3 foot by 3 foot section of deck (maybe with an Antiaircraft gun battery) from a small WWII carrier (all obviously to better display my K&C warbirds).

Ok but I had all kinds of Zombie material still left.
Custom made dioramas are out of my league at this point.

I think the idea of a small section of Aircraft carrier is very clever. It will

certainly make a wonderful display. I would love to have a diorama done of

the Pegasus Bridge.

I really like the RAF control tower. After the hanger (or maybe with it), I think I will ask him to make me a weather tower with a wind sock like the Heco one on display at the Symposium last year, which I gave to Hans.

I,m sure british paras or a LRDG chevy would look great in one

And we need some Kiwis - bit short there considering the efforts of the New Zealanders in the desert.

It was the only thing I could think of as a working diorama to display my Pacific Theater aircraft, which include two different Zeros, a Grumman F6F Hellcat, a P38 Lightning, and a Brewster Buffalo. I have the K&C Japanese Pilot (1991), as well as a complete series of Frontline Japanese deckcrew and pilots. I think the U.S. planes attacking the Japanese Carrier will make a very nice display. I only wish I had one or two more Japanese planes (preferably Vals) for the deck and a Dauntless, Avenger or Helldiver to join in the attack.

Thanks for a dose of reality, Louis, do know what the Battle of the Bugle dioramas that Gordon made for Chicago sold for? Does he have per square fee or is on a per specific job basis? Thanks

Tony Neville is making me a Bastogne Diorama for Battle of the Bulge figures. I will probably be picking it up at the show in December.

I Know most people want british paras for an arnheim theme,but it
would be great to have some for north africa also,I may be wrong but I
think this is where they earned the name red devils.
But hey beggars cant be choosers.

My dio's are not in the same league as Gordon's, or any of the other guys but i do have a lot of customers that i make bases for and they are all very happy. This is a JG barn that i was in the middle of 'wintering' for a customer in Scotland. The base was big enough that you could fit 4 sets of BofB on and three or four vehicles.

Thanks Louis. I only make the dioramas for the shows we attened, and then if i get asked to make one or two for customers for their favourite sets.
