Gran Torino (1 Viewer)

I saw the movie today and would recommend seeing it. The movie is not what I expected from the trailers currently showing on TV. Clint Eastwood is very good as Kowalski. I do not want to say anything else about the movie as not to give away anything on the plot and ending.

I agree with Deitz. Definatily worth seeing. Classic Clint Eastwood!

Well worth seeing! Even the wife enjoyed it!:D

Go Clint!

Anyone of Clint Eastwoods movies is a must see for me. He sounds like a class act kinda guy. I heard from a friend of mine who restores WWII vehicles that Clint Eastwood let the owners of whoever donated their WWII vehicles to his movie have a small role in the film. How great would that be.

Totally agree with previous comments. Excellent movie. Highly recommend. Take the wife and teenage kids if you have them. They will be pleasantly surprised.

I saw Gran Torino last night.

The Mong boy and girl were terrible actors and the movie was very cheesy and predictable but having said that I really enjoyed it. ;)

Clint is a class guy. A buddy of mine's son was getting married in Hawaii, they saw Clint coming out of a restaurant where they were holding the reception, they asked him if he would take a picture with the bride and groom and he said sure he'd be right back after he walked his mother to the car. He came back and posed for the pictures.

Good film, entertaining but I wouldn't put in the classic catorgory. At times it felt like the story of Dirty Harry's retirement years! Nevertheless, a ripping yarn.

I've seen it twice already and i think it's nearly a masterpiece in my opinion..it says a lot of Clint point of view on many things. In Kowalski (not a name chosen by chance for Clint)you can see the Callaghan, the Man with No Name, the Gunny Highway, and nearly every other important character played by Clint in his career..and i think you can see the real Clint .Really is great movie, maybe the best of the year.

Saw it this week and loved it. To me any Clint Eastwood movie is a class act. I wouldn't say it's his best movie(1) but it really is excellent and easily beats most movies around... Agree with the previous post that nicely sums it up. I just hope Clint keeps on making movies for many years.

(1)I prefer his Iwo Jima movies, or The Bridges of Madison County (absolute masterpiece) or Mystic River (absolute masterpiece). Also love Pale Rider or Unforgiven. And, well, all of his movies...

Ken & I went to see this movie a few weeks back. Wow. It was good/weird on many levels. First off the weird: most of it was filmed within 5 blocks of my parents house. They live in a town called Grosse Pointe but within 2 blocks of Detroit, and a bad Detroit at that. The hardware store is where I used to by paint, nails etc. The church is St. Ambrose, where every catholic Grosse Pointe resident went to mass. The crappy neighborhood is where I used to live in Detroit (museums pay pretty poorly). It was weird in that it was all so very familiar. The houses they used were actually in Hamtramack (the only local neighborhood Detroiters can look down on, well, that and River Rouge & Melvindale;)). Anyway, back on track, I know Clint Eastwood is a Californian, but he channeled every working-the-line, angry-about-life autoworker I have ever met. If you grew up blue collar in the Detroit metro area, you have met this man. He is the perfect melding of UAW and Dirty Harry. The movie is well worth seeing. As a side note, not all of Detroit is awful. While there is no money in automobiles in Detroit anymore when there was it was spent on lots of museums, concert halls etc.
All the Best,
Ericka

I went to Vegas this weekend for the USBC bowling tournament with 5 buddies, stayed at the Nugget.

Had a great trip lots of fun, but one night in my room I rented Gran Torino.

I didn't know if Clint would ever make another movie again,

I thought he was just going to direct from here on out,

but his character couldn't have been cast better.

He was perfect for this script.

Hard nosed, tough, bigoted and old fashioned~~~~~~~~nobody could have played his character better.

Not to spoil anything for anyone who has not seen it, I would have liked an alternate ending.

Bottom line, if you like Clint Eastwood, you will love him in this one.

I'll watch it again.

Clint's getting older.

But he's still one of the greatest.
