I got some of these trees from Hobby Bunker and I was surprised the price was very reasonable and I simply made a base with clay..........then painted the base and added some texture to it from scenic express....
 
yes I will take some and see if I can figure out photobucket and post them
 
Being into model trains, I forget that there is a bunch of stuff out there that people just don't know about. You are quite right! The Grand Central Gems trees are nice quality and very reasonably priced in the US. Even if you don't have a toy soldier shop locally then any model railroad store that orders through Walthers can get them.

The tall trees are medium oak and the smaller trees are medium hardwood...as I said I made the base on them using clay.......

These look good and are reasonably priced.I'll have to try these.

Very nice Pops ! I had a look at them at the walthers website, they have quite a nice selection.
