Good use of a piece that many would not consider buying?
The guy can be brilliant sometimes.

Agreed, that would look awesome! The SP16 Reich Chancellery annex already has some german graffiti on it.

This is a great scene. He is very talented indeed, love the Graffiti!.Its a very good bringing together of lots of different figs to great effect,i agree the Russian squeezebox player would be a great addition.

Hi Guys,

Thanks, as usual, for the kind comments...Re "Canadian Samurai's" observation about "all wrong uniforms for Berlin"...I disagree, some of the paratroopers are wearing D.Day jump uniforms but...most are wearing standard WW2 GI field jackets and other gear which is perfectly correct for late/end of the war Europe. Oh, and by the way it's Nuremburg and not Berlin...our "eagle-eyed expert" from North of the border missed that one...Its title/code is LAH082 "The Nuremburg Review Stand".

Best wishes and...happy collecting!

I wonder if one day we could get some sort of colour cataloge with all these wonderful dio's in it.They are so good and would make an excellant picture reference book for enthusiasts and dio makers alike.

Sierra Toys has this posted - gives a nice perspective on size:

As one who has been to Nuremberg and stood where Hitler stood, it's a very nice scene and reminded me of my visit there.

It's something I might want to buy and replicate. It would also be nice if Andy could release a customized version of the stand as depicted, perhaps something limited.

Great job Andy and Gordon.

Kids use the platform for skateboarding these days. Quite a contrast.

Sorry, but there was no "standard" U.S. field jacket for the European Theatre. Halfway through the campaign the Army switched to a new official standard.

Starting in late summer 1944 and continuing through to early 1945 both the khaki M1941 Parson's Jacket and boots w/ leggings (which the infantry landed on D-Day with) and the Paratrooper's M1942 jump jacket/pants (which the paras landed on D-day with) were systematically replaced by the green M1943 jacket and pants and short buckle boots, which several of your BoB guys are correctly wearing.

This isn't rivet counting - the change in uniforms gave the soldiers dramatically different appearances. For those with the Band of Brothers DVDs, notice how the Para's uniforms change about halfway through when they go into Holland.

There was the odd unit or individual who kept their Parson’s jacket through the whole war, but beyond this, seeing so many guys from different units in earlier war uniforms in one place in mid 1945, especially the paras, isn’t particularly accurate.

For a good reference on U.S. uniforms and equipment I recommend Histoire & Collections "GI Collectors Guide" which is full of wonderful colour photos on the subject. They also produce volumes on U.S. D-day Paras. You probably already have similar books because your U.S. sets through the years have been pretty accurate.

As for my judgement about where this supposed scene was supposedly located, on the right side of the review stand is the graffiti "Berlin Kaput". I didn't go by the name of the set (LAH082) because, after all, the title/code of most of the soldiers in the scene is 'DD' but this is certainy not "D-Day".

Anywho, it’s still a very cool diorama and I'm learning that in toy soldiers, it’s the overall effect that counts I guess.

Correct C.S. It is the over all efect that gets us all excited.
But the nit picking can be alot of fun, especially when we can see whos' hackles get all puffed up.

Is the Nazi Eagle designed to attach somehow to the Review Stand?

That Review Stand looks so cool I'm tempted to start collecting this line.

That's not my intention at all - I just want to have an intelligent discussion about history which K&C's wonderful figures encourage. They're accurate by themselves - just not in this combination in Nuremberg. So before someone decides to spend the time and money to set this scene up in their own home I thought they might want to know the pros and cons of it.

I'm sure K&C will get around to doing late war U.S. infantry and paras eventually and then the sky's the limit in terms of dioramas.:D

TOo many chemicals in the sixties might have something to do with it also!?!

"A one legged girls pipe band"....:D:D
Almost split my sides when I saw that one.
As for chemicals, I tried home made FLASH in Libya a few months ago - my eyesight hasn't been the same since....!!! Found out later that the stuff was 98% proof. Could've fuelled up the ramjager with it.

;)Yes. The Merry HIghland Maids O' Manitoba Pipe and Drums and Precisson Drill Team.(or the M,H,MOM,PD,PDT, as they were known locally.)It was the annual June Rhubarb Fest Parade 1953. A sudden Alaskan storm front droped in. The Lassies kept marching. the winds grew fierce, snow began to spit, the Lasies kept marching drones chocking. Battons slipping, fingers numbing..
AS the parade was on a westery route. Many sucumbed to frost bite on the right foot. The light gillies were of scant protection on the slushy ground.
Had they been wearing good stout Canadian Sorelle Caribous with spatts, would the out come have been different? Only providence knows??
O.C.
