Our Good Friend Tom Dubel was kind enough to pass along two Greenwood & Ball dioramas (small scale, the same ones that were used in that old Roger Moore James Bond movie), the Alamo and Rorke's Drift, to me from his exceptional collection:

...the same ones that were used in that old Roger Moore James Bond movie...

Which movie was that, Louis? I can only remember dioramas in "The Living Daylights" with Timothy Dalton. If I remember correctly, they were part of Forbes' collection in the Palais Mendoub in Tangiers. I need my trivia fix!

Prost!

Brad,
This is the maker who created those in the Bond Movies. Same maker. Peter Davis of Little Lead Soldiers in England made these for the market through sales by Jim Hillestad (Toy Soldier Museum). They were custom made to order much like the ones in the movie. I think these are 30 by 30 or thereabouts. Truly unique items and they ended up in the right collection! Thanks Louis

Ah, OK, same movie, thanks for clarifying!

For tthe Zulu war diorama they used lot of figurines made by Sanderson for Hinchliffe. I have seen such a diorama in the little shop "Under 2 Flags" in London in the 70ies

This last Zulu set up brought back a lot of memories. I just loved all the Sanderson figures from my figure painting days. Still have a small dio pf Zulus and 24th of Foot I made in 1979. I also visited the Under Two Flags store in London. Do not remember a large dio such as this, but I did see a small diorama with a very nice munition wagon. I always regretted not buying the piece...
