Dear All

Welcome to our Autumn newsletter with some exciting new additions being added to our catalogue, please continue reading below and all will be revealed!

ROM019 Marching Roman Legionnaire available in 3 versions as per normal including the Classic red shield variant plus the 9th and 30th Legion with black shields. We have made an initial batch of 100 of the A version and 80 of each of the B/C variants. As you can see they look great in a group or as a sentry party.

Please note the B variant is not yet available but will be available in Novembers release. All figures priced at $49/£39 inc VAT per figure.

The Roman army composed of many Auxiliary elements including archers, infantry and cavalry. Our first batch of Auxiliaries are archers and come in various poses to bolster our regular Legionnaires as follows:

ROM020: A kneeling archer reaches behind to reload from his quiver.

ROM021: A standing archer scans the battlefield for a new target.

ROM022: Standing archer firing upwards.

ROM023: Kneeling archer firing straight ahead.

ROM025: Kneeling archer firing up and to the left.

The A version of our archers wear silver colour metal helmets and are unlimited so long as demand warrants it, the B version archers wear bronze coloured helmets and are limited to 80 pieces worldwide. All the archers are priced at $49/39 inc Vat in the Euro zone.

For those of you wondering what happened to ROM024, this is a new sentry figure and he will be appearing next month as well as a Centurion and an Imaginifer.

That's all our new Romans for this month, however it seems appropriate to announce a new range of Ancients in this section before we move onto WW2. I have attached pictures of a new Spartan figure that will appear in November, our first figure SPA001A is a Spartan warrior launching his spear at the enemy. Our web guy will be adding more clay sculpt pictures of some of the other figures from this range that will appear in December, to our website wwww.tomgunn.co.uk, these clay sculpts can all be seen in the workshop section of the site. As you will see the new range will have depth and we will also have an enemy for the Spartans to battle with quite early on in the series. These will not be the traditional Persian Immortals but will initially be Persian Mercenaries, not seen too often in the world of collecting. This new range are designed to fit in with Aeroart and First Legion figures please note. We are accepting pre-orders for our Spartan figure priced at $49 each, if you want to reserve one or more, please advise soonest by emailing me. We have made an initial batch of 100 figures but there are no plans to limit the A range of these figures, so long as the demand is there. This does not mean they will be available indefinitely, just longer than normal. Most of the earlier Romans we released are now sold out and will not be replaced, however we have ordered a new batch of ROM001 and 005A variant and these will be back in stock soon.

Moving onto WW2 we are pleased to announce the availability of a new mini submarine for the KM series. The Marder was a 3 ton submarine and was considered an improvement over the earlier Neger, but included a flooding tank that allowed the craft to submerge up to a depth of 100ft. Another improvement was the pilot dome being operable from the inside, unlike the Neger where the pilot was locked in from the outside, with no chance of escape should the sub sink!

Germany first fielded this type of weapon in large numbers on the night of the 2nd/3rd August 1944, when 58 mini submarines took part in an operation against Allied shipping

off Courseulles-sur-Mer, of the 58 craft involved in the attack only 17 returned to base. However they did manage to sink or damage 1 Liberty ship, a mine sweeper and a Royal Navy destroyer.

The last attack by mini subs in significant numbers was on the night of 16/17 August 1944, when 42 Marder attacked Allied shipping, torpedoing the empty French battleship 'Courbet' and 2 other small vessels for the loss of 26 Marder's.

Our Marder KM005 comes with the 2 Kriegsmarine figures as per the attached pictures, is limited to 100 in number and is priced at $150/£99 inc VAT in the Euro zone. Other craft are scheduled for this series with KM001 Assault boat due for release in December 2016. Please note KM005 Marder is only available in small numbers now, the majority of these models will be available in November. Pre-order now in order to avoid disappointment.

That's all for this month folks.
For those of you waiting for our wooden aircraft there will be some Allied aircraft from WW2 making an appearance soon with German and Italian aircraft from WW1 also on the horizon.

Kind Regards

The Gunn Team

Are they all going to be Spartans, or will there be a significant number of uniform Spartan figures? Or will it be more a mixed bag of designs? Either is OK, just wondering what your plan is.

I like that they are designed to integrate with FL and Aeroart, so I will be picking a few of these up as my Greek collection only comes from those two companies at this time.

The Romans look really nice. I could see adding a few archers to support my FL Legionaries.

The Spartans will be in various uniforms, some in the Brass armour plate and some in the later white leather style armour, all will have Spartan shield designs similar to SPA001.
There will be Spartan Allies as well as their enemies which will be in the mix soon.

Sounds well planned and very exciting!

sad to see that there is no first world war this month!
Is there space in the pipeline for First World War in the future??

Harry

Yes of course, we had some last month!
We also have 3 new pilots planned as well as 2 new German infantry figures.
Hope this helps and don't be sad - be happy!

Way back in March you advised that the King's German Legion officer/NCO had been delayed "for a little while".
Any news on its release?

Vicky, what weapon is the Spartan holding?

It does not look like a Doru or Dory spear that was the main Hoplite weapon. It actually appears to be a xyston which would be more accurately depicted as a throwing weapon.

Dorys were thrown, but that was not their true purpose. If it was a Dory, the sauroter (lizard killer) on the end is missing and the blade seems a little narrow.

The Spartan sculpt is excellent. Would love to see some Persians. This is an exciting new series!

Hi Brad
Errrm not sure - If its not a Greek spear then its a Persian one being returned to its rightful owner! However thank you for pointing this out and we have now resolved this issue on the production piece - or at least I hope so according to sources from Gunn HQ.
Regards Vicki
