Welcome to our May 2017 newsletter featuring 2 German WW1 aircraft available in very limited numbers and are as follows:
The Gotha was a twin engined heavy bomber used by the Luftsreitkrafte during WW1, designed for long range service it was used principally as a night bomber entering service in 1916. Capable of flying at 15,000 ft and a range of 500 miles, the Gotha could deliver a bomb load of up to 500 kilos. A group of four squadrons was established in Belgium in a bid to carry out bids against Great Britain. In May 2017 the first raid was carried out against Folkestone by 22 aircraft. In June another raid was carried out against London killing 162 people, the Gothas were intercepted by 90 British fighters but they failed to bring any of them down. In July another 22 plane raid was carried out with 1 Gotha being shot down for the loss of 2 British fighters. Once the RFC were equipped with Sopwith Camels casualties amongst the Gotha’s start to climb and they were switched to night raids. The Gotha had a wingspan of nearly 78 ft and was over 40 feet long, it was manned by a crew of 3. Our 1/32 scale version WOW132 comes in a striking white scheme adorned by a green serpent, commanded by Walter Aschoff during the first raids over England. Priced at $1400 with a limited edition of 2 machines being immediately available, this includes free postage worldwide. EU and UK please note price will be in £ and price will vary on location, please contact us for details.
Our second WOW123 aircraft is a 1/30 scale Roland D.V1 fighter aircraft in a stunning late war lozenge pattern. The Roland aircraft company had earlier introduced the C. 11 Walfisch 2 seat reconnaissance plane, which had excellent characteristics and was capable of outperforming most Allied fighters of the day. Several other designs followed which were not as successful until the arrival of the D.V1 fighter. Ironically this design had lost out to the Fokker D.V11 but was still put into production as insurance against the Fokker failing in its role. The Roland entered service in May 1918 and was still in service up until the end of the war with 350 being produced in total. Our model is one flown by 20 kill ace Otto Kissenberth who survived the war only to be killed in a climbing accident in 1919. We have a total of 4 models available priced at $599 which includes free postage worldwide, EU and UK please note invoice will be in £ and price will vary on location, please contact us for details and a non obligation quote.
All our aircraft are hand carved from Mahogany and take around 60 hours to produce, hence the limited numbers. If you are interested please email me and reserve your model as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. We offer payment terms over 1 to 6 months on an interest free basis, for details just drop us an email. Both these models will be shown on our website www,tomgunn.co.uk where you will also find our other aeroplane models that are still available. Club members will qualify for a 10% discount if paying as a one off up-front payment.
That’s all for May folks, I hope you enjoyed our offerings.

Not my era of interest, but they look fantastic, I have the WW1 British soldiers at leisure sets, which are the only WW1 I have collected as they make a great little diorama and am definitely thinking about collecting the GW075 together with the other German figures at rest as it will be a great contract diorama series.
Two excellent choices, one classic and one a little more unusual. The Roland is beautiful and that Gotha is just wonderful in it's size and detail. One thing for sure, whatever WW1 aircraft TGM chooses to produce, the results are just brilliant and continue to impress in detail. -- Al
