So while on eBay, I happened upon a Napoleonic figure from this company, and after looking around the internet, I discovered that K&C makes their original molds, and to date they have produced 150 Napoleonic French Generals and Marshals, none of which are limited editions. It seems to me that it would be a very cool scene to combine all 150 of these generals with some K&C, Britains, and FL camp figures to make a giant display of leaders and camp life {sm4}. Does anyone collect/own any of these figures? Here is the link:

Yes,

I have about a dozen of these guys and they fit in very nicley with K&C NAPs, but thats probably because K&C makes them for Hachette.

They are still in production, so check out the Hachette website for more deatils,

John

Sandor,
I know Capitolron has a few Hachette figures and has previously posted images of them with his K&C figures and they looked good. Not sure which thread it was in.

Brett

Weren't they sold at one time on a subscription basis, a la Del Prado?

Prost!

Speaking of Del Prado, why are their figures so cheap^&confuse? I mean they are not bad quality (not as nice as some other companies, but still pretty good), and they are metal.... I would be buying a lot from them to fill out ranks, but they only have one figure for each regiment, and not necessarily an enlisted man, which I could get multiples of. Does anyone collect THEM here^&confuse?

I don't collect Del Prado as such, because they really don't make any figures in the periods I collect, and I prefer gloss to matte. I do snap up copies of the Prussian cuirassier officer at Leuthen, because it is such a nicely sculpted figure, in a true 54mm. It's from the "History of Cavalry" series. That is the only Seven Years War figure that they make, as far as I know. The lancer from Lauzun's Legion is another one that I've picked up; it can be converted to a Bosniak. Otherwise, they really have nothing covering the 18th century (which I count to end with the first French Revolutionary wars, not with December 31, 1800).

I have been thinking about collecting the Napoleonic Prussians, though, because they are relatively well done, and relatively cheap.

Hello
Del Prado figures were designed as press collectables , with a booklet or leaflet based in the Osprey books. With a high quantity of copies of each model (more than 10000 , and in the first numbers of each collection even 30000 copies) the manufacture costs are so low to maintain a low final price.

Ah! I get it! Thanks for the answer. I have never actually seen one first person, so that explains that!

Del Prado are a bit hit and miss when combining with KC Naps; however, not surprisingly some of them do work very well with KC (as I am led to believe they made them for DP)

Here is one I have posted before - French Dragoons Officer. One is KC and one is DP

I tend to use them as fillers between my KC - the British RHA figure is another useful one

I believe you're correct, Gazza, that K&C also produced some of the Del Prado figures. Other of the figures were produced in other shops, I think. There is a variety of scale and style to the sculpts, across their series and even within some of the series.

Prost!

Regarding Hachette's Nap Marshalls, according to Andy N. at K&C, K&C only did the first 30 of the series. Hope that helps,

TD
