One of the most iconic vehicles of the Germans during WWII (IMO) is the Sd.Kfz. 251 designed by Hanomag. These open air vehicles were also known as coffins as even a Molotov Cocktail could take out the 12-man crew. Regardless, any fan of German Armor has to love them. I think this is my third by K&C:

I completely agree, Rob. The first military toy I ever had as a really little kid was a Corgi Hanomag Rocket Launcher. It pulled a trailer full of little red plastic rockets that it shot from little spring loaded boxes on the side. I wasn't planning on collecting WWII, but when I saw the King & Country mahagony Hanomag in a 1995 article in Toy Soldier & Model Figure Magazine, I called Tony Ciccarello at the Toy Soldier Gallery in Highland Falls, New York, my K&C dealer at the time, and ordered one. Then I ordered a mohagony Tiger. Then a Resin & Metal Kubelwagon. Then Tony brought me back a resin and metal 8-Ton Halftrack pulling an 88 from Hong Kong . . . the rest is history.{sm4}

Wow, there's been that many variants? Quite a few.

Quite a story, Louis. Love your dio! I never had any Corgi but remember them. They made a Batmobile and some other awesome vehicles. When I was a kid, I visited a local toy store that had a display case with Britain soldiers and some high-end die-cast vehicles. They had this military truck with trailer and huey that I wanted so bad, but never purchased. To this day, I don't know who made it. Would not be surprised if it was Corgi.

Rob,

It probably was, as I recall Corgi and Britain's often shared the same or adjacent showcases. I had the Corgi Batmobile and Batboat, as well as most if not all of their military vehicles, which, if I remember correctly, also included a Tiger Tank, a King Tiger Tank, a Quad, Gun & Limber, a Matador Armored Car and an AMX Tank Recovery Vehicle. My parents were really strict, so they went right back in the boxes after I played with them, and, as a pack rat, I carried a carboard box full of all my Corgi toys in their boxes around from home to home until I finally had my own children. When he was about 5 years old, I started letting my son Alec play with them (and kept the boxes safe separately), and they are still up the room in a bin. If you ever get to my house for a Symposium or just to visit, I'll pull them out let you have a look. By the way, I also have all my original Dinky Military Vehicles and Field Guns (I never took them out of the boxes to let Alec have them, so they are still pretty much mint).

That is so cool!
In diecast, all I have is a small number of Matchbox & Hotwheel cars and some Britain Deetail Knights (bases were metal) from the early 80s.

Nice photo Rob and cool looking old sets Louis.

I have this camo 251 as well and it's a great model.
