False Advertising Spoiler: He's not alive now. But it is his Birthday today. I remember.
But here's the Navy's propaganda photo of:
U.S. Adm. Joy and Grandpa Calihan on Iwo Jima.
Would love to see somebody do this scene in 1/30th scale for me.
Dad & I have some great K&C figs that look like him when he wore Marine garb (he was often on the radio & carried a non-issue shotgun at night to guard against Banzai charges - while in Marine kit, but he was in the U.S. Navy). Long war story. We love our K&C Pacific marines. Love them!
Sorry about the quality of the pics{eek3}.

He passed away 20 years ago but I figured: What the Heck, Birthdays are for those gone by as well!
Good luck reading that... anyway
All the Best, Paddy for Pat (his son) and Pat Jr. (me)

Let's tell war stories on some thread. Maybe Historical Discussions. We could tell a little more & I'm sure many others could share a great deal!

For this one:
Landings at Tarawa, Kwajalein, Eniwetok, Tinian, another we forget, and Iwo. That is Mt. Suribachi in the background.
He directed fire from his destroyer on over 200 enemy.
He wore mosquito nets at night to keep flies away and a shotgun to do the same for the enemy. He carried a Colt 1911 and his gear.

He also fought in the Atlantic, but that is another story (less interesting, maybe, but hey - I say stories are fun).

Please share anyone's.
New thread?

Best Wishes
Pat & Pat Jr
