Cheers Douglas:cool:, yes the sun is shining down here in NZ and I'm about to jump in our wee pool for a cool morning dip, followed by a glass of bubbles and a couple of breakfast sausages off the BBQ before family arrives to do presents etc.

Wishing you and the rest of the UK a very Merry Christmas too mate and to all our other TF members around the globe, plus our very dodgy cousins across the ditch over there in Oz-Land.......do hope Santa has been kind to all and delivered some excellent TS surprises. ^&grin

....and of course a special mention must go out to all those TS manufactures and their respective teams for producing such great products for us all to enjoy.:salute::

Merry Christmas Jules and to everyone on the forum.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!
And happy Chinese dinner and movies to all my fellow Jews!!!

Make sure to post pics of your mini Christmas acquisitions!

Hi All,
Turkey in oven doing well. Family assembling, so house bit noisy, small grandchildren , plus wife playing her new Christmas cds.
Spent Nov. and early Dec. 2014 in New Zealand. Had a great time , and enjoyed the warm, sunny weather, but found adverts for BBQ kits, new swimming costumes and other summer type things a bit odd, as Christmas happens in winter. I'm sure I'd adapt though. I did however feel sorry for the choirs spotted singing carols in Singapore, during our 3 day stop over. It was 33 cent. very humid, and they were wearing Father Christmas and elf costumes, singing about the red red robins bobbing along.

Once again,
Have a Great Christmas.

Is this specifically a Jewish 'thing'? Cuz I have done this sporadically over the years with other stranded people...both Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Our rendezvous is generally extended to all our framily in the area with no place to go :)
Granted this year I spent the day putting up shelves and prepping for today's start to the moving process!!!
Pete & Jeff and taking the first cold load already. Aron will be there shortly while I hold down the shop with Ben & Jacob packing up product!

We had Chinese on Sunday night and the place was packed. We saw Star Wars last night and the place was empty. Yup, it’s a Jewish thing, but for Christmas only.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Had Korean BBQ on Christmas eve and the joint was half way packed. We ordered a couple of Sushi rolls and had to get my ma Tempura because she just can't handle the sight of raw fish. I got Bulgogi and the gang ordered Kalbi ribs. That with a couple of Kirin Extra Dry's and we called it a Christmas Eve.

Woke up to home made barbacoa (not the Chipolte kind of barbacoa) that the wife made with cilantro, onion and guacamole. Store bought tortillas, but I ain't complaining.

Yes, I am cutting down for 2018, but man I love the eats.

ZB,

Is the "eating Chinese food on Christmas" some sort of secret hand shake thing that I am not aware of?

John,

Most places, including restaurants, are closed on Christmas Day. The exception is Chinese Restaurants and Movie Theaters. So Jewish people eat Chinese Food and go to the movies every Christmas. Coincidentally, my Christmas party is referred to as "the Matzoh Ball," because while I invite all my friends, all my Christian friends have their own family parties to attend, so its me and about 20 Jewish friends (this year we had one Hindu family as well).

Merry Christmas!

Louis

Christmas eve my wife, of Italian Catholic heritage, does the special fish dinner and Christmas day we had Thai food and went to see the Churchill movie.
The only restaurants open on Christmas day in NY are Asian and quite frankly there are plenty of non-Jews eating there as well. My grandchildren love that they
get presents for both Christmas and Hanukah.
Peace on earth to everyone!

Rich,

There is an excellent steak house in Great Neck that's open on Christmas Day (my family and I ate there last night). I can pass you the information for next Christmas . . . :wink2: Maybe we can bring both families and start a new Chrismakah tradition!^&grin My kids also love the Chanukah/Christmas double down on the presents . . . {sm4}

If you were aware of it, now, it wouldn’t be a secret, would it :wink2:
