Has your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, family, etc gotten into the hobby yet?? (2 Viewers)

My wife likes my hobby, but she's not a collector, well of toy soldiers.....

She lets me take her to toy soldier shows, like London 2008 and 2010

See the photo below with the Treefroggers at 12:30 in the bar, Pauline on the far right.

and thats not bad when I take her all the way from Australia to UK, just for the show......

OK, thats a lie....... but we do plan trips to UK around the show dates!

She also likes looking at toy soldiers, but reckons I don't have enough women in my collection, so I do get the occasional casting of a nurse, camp follower or female serviceman to paint and add.

I get lots of support, just like I give her with her quilting.... by the way, when she went to the Quilt Exhibition at the V&A last year, I went to the Changing of the Guard, and the Guards Museum, Toy Soldier Shop :)

All my girls want to know is 'How much are they worth"?

My girlfriend digs it but my wife and boyfriend hate it :)

GAAAH!!! Typical attorney speak- raises more questions than answers!! ^&grin^&grin

Well, I awarded Rob the post of the Month for March with his impromptu rap session on the EuroSong thread but this post is certainly worthy of sharing the title for this month.

Hey Konrad- I bet you are right- probably not a lot of guys get to talk to too many folks about the hobby and this place is really a good place to do just that. My family gets a kick out of me collecting and even my neighbor told me the other night when we were drinking beer that he can't wait for me to move back into my house and start playing with my army guys in the dirt. Whenever I get in the dirt in the backyard, the neighbors always laugh and bust my chops. It's all good.

No interest, support, excitement or anything like that from the family, my wife, daughter (17) and son (15).
At this point I am perfectly satisfied that my collecting gets quietly accepted :wink2:
Bet a lot of us would have a very lonely stand if we wouldn't have the forum to share our hobby and enjoy.

BINGO! Let's say that my son and wife tolerate it but always tease me about it...^&grin

Forgive this little Antipodean, but I've never heard of the phrase "bust my chops" - what does it mean?

Napoleon1er and jazzeum - love your sense of humor - I had a good chuckle at your posts.

Thank you and I'll save the site as well. Looks a good place to surf.

Oh it is- that website is a riot.

Yes, the meaning I was going for was making fun of me, etc. Not actually busting me across the jaw, as the Urban Dictionary alludes to as well. ^&grin

This is so very accurate. This forum is my only outlet to talk about the hobby. -- Al

Once again Airbourne leads the way,,my present wife is accepting to the hobby ,more so then the others long gone,Opposed to the immortal C Sheen ,my goddesses arent available at the house that much, tho one thinks its "cute",,family as with all related in my direction thinks eccentric, charming ,, but at a slight distance.Boyfriends,,,,,,,,,nicht commenton,,,I believe the original expression was "bust in the chops" ...from the pleasurable.

Right now sharing the hobby is a lower profile,,,Im pushing another part of things,,a 12 Black Mustang Gt by next week.
