Hi everyone, I've been collecting Britains "DEETAIL, Herald and Swoppet" figures for a while now and have been watching the forum and how everyone has so much fun painting... As a child (I'm a grown up now) ^&grin I always wanted to paint model soldiers but never had the time or patience.... now I have both.... ^&grin So I have started painting. Attached are my first attempt... feel free to hurl advice.... I'm generally happy with the result but am sure I can do better with some practice. all the best, Marc

Mark,

nice painting, but one thing I see amiss is the crown of the bearskin, it should be a white cross on a red background.

I hope that helps,

John

Not bad for a first attempt Marc. I used to paint eyes with a white dash and a brown dot but I agree with John - good effort. {bravo}}

What a really fine effort. And you have never done it before? They look great.

Congrats on you first attempt,stick with it you will find a few tricks here and there,
Looking at "other" peoples work also is a great way of learning and picking up a few ideas!

Hi everyone, thanks for all the great comments. I will admit I look at the work of others and some painters out there really do paint works of art.... I'm really happy with my first attempt and find the patience needed quite satisfying. So far it's been very enjoyable. I've managed to pick up a few more sets from various manufacturers including TSSD, Armies in Plastic, "OLD" Airfix and some Itaelri. Almost finished are a set of TSSD German Elite Troops so I'll post some pics when completed. I've started another post on some paint colour schemes so I can start getting some paint. all the best, marc

Hi
I will just echo the other remarks all ready made. Very nice first attempt. Lots of good books out there on painting figures. Techniques you will learn along the way. It is loads of fun. You might try looking for some painting books written by Shep. Paine. Or Perhaps our own Obee has some books or tutorials as he was an early inspiration for me.
