Have you seen this from WB? (1 Viewer)

The section under the WBritains upcoming releases for this piece appears not to be working. It is working in the general Britains section though.

When is this piece due to be released ???

The link from the Upcoming releases is fixed (see what happens when I do it myself:().

We'll check with Britains on the release date, but Richard Walker of First Gear is on vacation for a couple weeks so we'll see if they know.

Just for comparison, but how much would the equivalent figure from one of The Russian companies weigh in at and could we have some comparison pictures.
Regards
Damian

First let me introduce myself - my name is Dave Youngquist and I am one of the master painters (one who paints the originals for production) for Britain's. I have painted over 95% of the new matt figures for Britain's since First Gear and Richard Walker took over and Ken Osen and Alan Ball created them. I have been honored to work for such an esteemed company and have always strived for historical accuracy (with much help from Ken!) in choosing paint colors and creating realistic looking figures. I do appeciate all of the compliments and critiques - they always push me to do my best work. My painting background comes from the modeling/figure hobby and I still create 'one of a kind' pieces for collectors. In regards to Kilted Vampires comments on the new connoisseur work - rest assured that the photo's do not do the work justice and the shading and detailing (including the ears and mouth) is on par with competition level figures. If interested - take a look at some of my original work at http://michiganhistoricalminiaturesclub.com/
Again, I enjoy reading all of your comments and I will continue to strive to do my best.

Dave, welcome to the forums. It's good to see another WB-er here.
This particular figure has no interest to me, but I like the paintjob. I would need to see it on a production sample as even the easiest to please collector (which i am not btw) would like a kick-*** paintjob on their figure for the price. But this one (I have the flyer in front of me) looks excellent:cool:

You nailed the zulu skin look, with the subtle shades.
I'm not too fond of the use of flat paint however (on their greasy hair) and like the more uniform silky-matte look. As for the overall paintjob I am getting; I cannot say anything about that to you, but I do believe the production painters know what they are doing most of the time.

BTW, It would be cool as heck if you would consider doing a paintalong with some matte figures over here or in the Standard.

Latest word from Britains is to expect an early November release. Dealers had til last Friday to make a one-time order for these figures so don't delay on ordering if you want one.
I'm assuming if this figure is well-received we can expect more to follow in the series.
I'm looking forward to seeing this figure in person.
Regards,

Dave, I thought that might be the case. I hope I get a chance to meet you in the near future. I hope my critique was fair and impartial.:)

Kilted Vampire - I will be hanging out in the Britains and Old Northwest rooms next month in Chicago. I hope that I see you there!!
All the best,
Dave

The russian figures have increased in price along with everything else. You would be hard pressed to find any top-quality mounted figures under $300. Many run in the $500-600+ range. The Britains figure looks great. I would have to see it in person to determine how the quality compares with the top russian figures. I don't see any casual collectors in that price range - so maybe a nice alternative for those growing weary of the russian prices and erratic supply.
